According to a new survey, adulthood “really” begins at age 27. This admission of delayed maturity comes from a poll of 2,000 Americans, who may or may-not be old enough to be classified as adults, according to their own definition of the term. The reason that so many feel that they won’t — or DIDN’T become a full-fledged adult until 27 is due to the fact that more than half of respondents felt that the true marks of “adulting” are paying your own bills, financial independence, and prioritizing responsibilities over fun. Other top events that were found to make people feel like adults included moving out of parents’ homes, and landing a first job in one’s chosen field. Respondents were found to generally start taking their finances seriously at age 28. And 42% of respondents said they found that being an adult is harder than they expected.

Just
after Apple’s much-heralded “Glowtime” event, where the company
announced, among other things, the latest iPhone 16, rival Huawei
held its own product unveiling. The Chinese tech company announced a
$2,800 tri-foldable phone, the new Mate XT. What does ‘tri-foldable’
mean? Users can actually fold the device 3 ways, like an accordion
screen door. The Mate XT, with an AI assistant, comes in red and
black, and has a 10.2-inch display screen. The company said it is the
world’s slimmest foldable phone, and it has a keyboard attachment
that fits in your pocket. Huawei has already received more than 4
million pre-orders for the new unit. LINK:

“It Ends With Us” continues to make history at the box office. The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s bestseller about a woman whose fairy-tale marriage turns abusive has amassed more than $309 million in global ticket sales, to become the top-grossing romantic drama since 2018’s Oscar-nominated “A Star is Born”, which earned $436 million. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who also directed, star in the movie, which has now made more than such female-fueled hits as “Anyone But You”, “Crazy Rich Asians”, “The Fault in Our Stars”, and “Me Before You”.
“The Goonies” is finally getting the sequel treatment. A follow-up film to the 1985 cult classic about a group of adventurous kids is in the works. The Sun says that several cast members from the original movie are expected to return for the sequel. Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, Ke Huy Quan and Martha Plimpton all starred in The Goonies. The sequel is scheduled to film next year, with a possible release date in 2026 or 2027.
Jana Kramer is teasing fans with new tidbits about the “One Tree Hill” reboot. On a new episode of her “Whine Down” podcast, Kramer confirmed that Netflix is onboard for the reboot, which stars Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton both teased at the end of August. Kramer, who starred on the series for 3 years as ‘Alex Dupré’, said that both Bush and Burton will be reprising their roles as ‘Brooke’ and ‘Peyton’, and revealed, “I think their characters are coming back as moms.” As for whether Kramer might reprise her role, she said that it has been discussed, and she “would love that. Sign me up. So, we’ll see.”

A study has found that 6% are OK with peeing in the pool.
We’ve all tried hangover cures, but this one has science behind it. On sale for just a few months in the US, the Safety Shot supposedly sobers up the user in an hour. Forbes reports that it reduces the amount of alcohol running through the blood after drinking, and it works so well, it can even be used to help those who are suffering from alcohol poisoning. Safety Shot claims its drink helps with rehydration and recovery, to get anyone who has had “a few too many” out of an intoxicated state. The drink is said to create a protective shield around the stomach wall, thereby preventing additional residual alcohol from being absorbed. Introduced in Las Vegas (where else?) late last year, availability is expanding across the country, and it is also available online. LINK: https://drinksafetyshot.com/

The old cliché is that it happens earlier every year. But that phrase is usually made in reference to ‘Back to School’ sales and when they start piping Christmas music into stores. This year, Starbucks in the UK has declared Pumpkin Spice season earlier than ever before. The iconic cold-season drink arrived in select stores last week – a month earlier than usual. However, to be among the fortunate customers who get to savor the Pumpkin Spice range, you’ll need to be a Starbucks Rewards member. Everyone else will have to wait until Aug. 22 – and until Sept. 5 for some Autumn food items. No word on a pumpkin spice release date for Starbucks outlets in other countries – yet.

While swearing is most definitely not an acceptable thing to do in some situations, it is, on the other hand, a perfectly natural part of any language. In fact, letting curse words fly has been linked to things like intelligence, honesty, and increased pain tolerance. And a new analysis of tweets by language blog Wordtips has revealed the world’s most (and least) profane nations — at least among those who post in English…
1. United States – (41.6 tweets per 1000 contain profanity)
2. United Kingdom (28.6)
3. Australia (26.6)
4. New Zealand (25.2)
5. Canada (24.6)
6. Mexico (24.5)
7. Jamaica (23.7)
8. Colombia (22.6)
9. Dominican Republic (22)
10. Egypt (21.9)
The least-swearing countries, all in the Middle East, are: Kuwait (3.6 tweets per 1000), followed by Lebanon and Saudia Arabia.
