Horror movies: They’re definitely a “love ‘em or hate ‘em” type of thing. And according to research, it all depends on whether you started watching them as a kid. A survey of 2,000 adults in the US who celebrate Halloween found that more than two-thirds (68%) of us enjoyed horror movies as a child, and that number still holds strong at 73% today. 65% said they saw their first horror movie before they were 11 years old – and 60% agree that watching your first scary movie at a slumber party is a ‘right of passage’. Respondents said they plan to watch an average of 5 scary movies this Halloween season. And almost one-third (29%) said that horror is their favorite genre, no matter the season.

A
report in USA Today says that if you’re looking to hand out
healthier treats this Halloween – ones the kids will still enjoy –
your best bet is to go with peanut M&Ms. According to a
registered dietitian, Peanut M&Ms, thanks to the “peanut”
part, at least provide some substance. A serving of Peanut M&Ms
contains a little less than 1 gram of fiber, 2 grams of protein and 9
grams of sugar. A similar-sized serving of Reese’s Peanut Butter
Cups is a close second, with around the same nutritional value, but a
bit more added sugar. Peanut M&Ms are made with mostly milk
chocolate, unlike many other treats, which are made mostly from corn
syrup.

Al Pacino gave up booze and drugs after suffering terrifying “blackouts.” The 84-year-old actor turned to alcohol and substance abuse while struggling to cope with life in the spotlight, but he has been sober for decades. He said to People: “I started to forget things at a very young age — they called them blackouts, so I got nervous.” Pacino added that he tried enrolling in Alcoholics Anonymous but didn’t find the support system helpful, calling it “a great place, but it was not for me.” Pacino’s new memoir, “Sonny Boy” will be released on Oct. 15.
Kathy Bates is not giving Ozempic all the credit for her hard work. Since beginning her weight loss journey in 2017 after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, she has lost 100 pounds—but she’s not chalking it all up to Ozempic. While she revealed she lost 20 pounds on the drug, she shed 80 pounds thanks to lifestyle and diet changes. In an interview, she said she has “to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.” She feels her diabetes diagnosis was a real wake up call for her reclaiming her self-esteem.
Jamie Foxx is grateful to be back on stage. He performed his previously announced one-man show “One More Chance: An Evening With Jamie Foxx”, in Atlanta earlier this month, over a year suffering an undisclosed life-threatening medical complication. He captioned a carousel of images on Instagram with the words “God is good. As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy.” He also said that audiences at the shows on Oct. 3, 4, and 5 heard him tell his “side of the story” of his health scare. In the photos from his performances, Foxx appeared emotional, hiding his head in his elbow, bowing his head to the audience, and hugging someone on stage. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mt9e7thf

A report says that most of us have at least one unfinished do-it-yourself project.
Here it is: Your annual excuse NOT to rake the leaves that are piling higher on your lawn by the day. The Nature Conservancy of Canada has a green-friendly response for those of us who’d like to avoid the back-breaking and callus-creating task of clearing the leaves: Just don’t do it. Why not? There are 3 major benefits to leaving the leaves in the yard during fall. First, it helps biodiversity, as there are many native insects and small critters such as frogs and toads that hibernate under the leaves during the winter. They also serve as a food source for birds, such as robins, which often forage among the leaves, searching for insects to eat. The other benefit is to the lawn itself. Leaves provide a natural mulch when they break down, which helps soil development. While large piles of leaves can impact the growth of grass and other plants come spring, a thin layer of leaves can help maintain the health of gardens and lawns.

A
mother was arrested at Disneyland after allegedly lying about her
children’s ages. KLTA News reported that she was arrested at
Disney’s California Adventure after failing to show her
identification to police officers, who were called after she
attempted to bring her 2 kids into the theme park without paying for
tickets. Disney theme parks allow children under 3 in for free, with
an adult. Videos showing Jessenia Diaz wearing Minnie ears, and
shouting while being led away by police in handcuffs went viral on
TikTok. When approached by security in regards to the ages of her
daughters, she ignored them and kept walking. Police stated that she
had done this 4 times in the last 2 months.
