According to cops, a Rhode Island man got arrested and charged with DUI twice in the same day on Valentine’s Day. 62-year-old Patrick Cahill was first busted at 2:26 a.m. after state troopers pulled him over following “multiple calls” about him driving the wrong way on I-95 north. He pleaded no contest to one charge of DUI in court later that morning and was allowed to go free — only to get arrested again that night. Cahill was again pulled over by another trooper on I-95 at 8:43 p.m. — almost exactly eighteen hours after his first arrest — this time near the Town of East Greenwich. He was charged with driving under the influence — noted as his second offense — as well as driving on a suspended license. This time, he was detained as a probation violator pending a court hearing on Monday. (https://bit.ly/2uKkjuW)

The legend of the Loch Ness Monster goes back nearly 1,500 years. There's a tale written in the year 565 A.D. that speaks of an Irish monk traveling through Scotland. While there, Saint Columba heard stories of a "water beast" that attacked and killed the local people when they went in the river. Wanting to help, the monk used his friend as bait to lure the beast into sight, at which point Columba commanded it to "go no further," and the creature stopped and swam back upstream. That river is now known in Scotland as the River Ness, which flows out from the famous Loch Ness.

A man who tried to steal goats from farmer in Stafford County, Virginia, pretended to be intoxicated and gave deputies a false name. The farmer told deputies his wife had gone out to check on their goats Friday night and saw that they were let out of their pen. She suspected there was someone hiding in their field. Her husband then found the suspect, 19-year-old Cole Schrock, and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived. When deputies came to the farm on the 700 block of Leeland Road the farmer told them he thought the suspect was intoxicated and trying to steal his goats. Deputies said Shrock was slurring his words and initially gave them a false name. The suspect later admitted to pretending to be intoxicated, which deputies confirmed with a breath test. Schrock was arrested and charged with larceny of animals, identity theft to avoid arrest and unlawful entry with intent to commit larceny. (https://bit.ly/2VmnML7)

A trail of pill bottles stolen from a Florida drug store led detectives to a home where they found two men matching descriptions of the robbers seen on surveillance video. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the men and another accomplice robbed a CVS in Clearwater at about 5:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day, waving guns at employees and binding several of them with zip ties. The trio made off with more than 10,000 pills containing the opioids hydrocodone and oxycodone. The drugs had a street value of about $320,000. But they left behind some obvious clues. First, the surveillance video captured the men and a white Chrysler 200 fleeing the scene. And apparently the men emptied pills from bottles, which they tossed out the window as they drove home. Detectives followed the trail of pill bottles to a home where they found two of the men. Investigators said the three men had planned the robbery, even staking the location out the day before. All three men now remain in jail, and their court records don’t list lawyers who could speak for them. (https://bit.ly/37QIjd9)

A closet and safe under a 64-year-old grandmother’s bed in a senior complex in St. Petersburg, Florida are not the typical spots where police find a cache of illegal dope and guns. But that’s what a federal task force found when it dismantled a drug-trafficking organization and arrested eleven suspects, including nine from the Sunshine City. Now, recent court documents reveal how the organization used the Viridian, a senior housing complex as a stash house for the drugs and guns. Officers accused 42-year-old Ahmad Rashad Weston of leading the ring, saying he often worked with his brother 38-year-old Charleston Shellie Long and their mother 64-year-old Serena Weston from inside her apartment on the seventh floor. Investigators seized seven pounds of marijuana, four handguns, and numerous magazines and bullets from the senior complex. Two of the guns were reportedly stolen in earlier heists. When officers served the search warrant, Weston opened her door holding a small child. Ahmad Weston and Long are in the Pinellas County Jail awaiting a trial on federal charges. THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

I have a new co-worker who just started working here about a month ago. She is younger and kind of keeps to herself. I tried to talk to her one day and noticed that she had earbuds in, so we didn't really meet. I've noticed that she wear the same few outfits. She is about the same size I was before my husband and I went on a health kick a few years ago. I have our guestroom closet full of clothes that would probably look super cute on her. My husband would love me to clear out that space since he uses that room as a man cave. I'm trying to decide how to approach this with her. I don't want her to think I'm being rude somehow. I've never even really talked to her, so this all feels weird to me. Any ideas on this one? Should I just donate the clothes somewhere? Should I slip her a note of some kind? Sorry, this all seems weird. Any ideas?

Signed – ClosetQueen

Upon returning home after an evening of boozing at the bowling alley, Rebecca Duarte “wanted to have sexual intercourse” with her boyfriend. But when Duarte’s beau refused to engage, a “verbal argument began” late Sunday evening. The man told cops that when he went outside the Fort Pierce residence to “get away from Duarte,” she followed him. 23-year-old Duarte first “punched out the front glass windows with her hand.” She then approached her boyfriend and began striking him. After pushing Duarte away, the victim told officers he walked to a neighbor’s house. A cop reported observing multiple windows broken “with shattered glass on the floor.” Additionally, Duarte’s 51-year-old boyfriend had lacerations on his face and shoulder. During police questioning, Duarte was “unable to provide a statement” and could not walk without assistance due to her intoxicated state. “Duarte kept saying ‘I want to call my mom,’” Duarte was arrested for domestic battery after investigators found her to be the “primary aggressor.” (https://bit.ly/2SvhnLG)

Sea lions can dance to a beat. There are only two mammals on Earth with the proven ability to move their bodies in time with an external beat: humans (though not all humans, to be fair) and sea lions. When researchers at the University of Santa Cruz rescued a stranded sea lion in 2013, they found that she was very smart, and she was even able to learn how to dance. Though parrots can also keep a rhythm, it was previously thought that only animals capable of complex vocal learning could do this.

A bizarre video of a Michigan man appearing to bathe inside of the kitchen sink at a Wendy’s restaurant is raising eyebrows online. “So yeah I’m just gonna tell everyone right now DONT NOT GO TO THE GREENVILLE WENDYS. THIS IS DISGUSTING PLEASEEEEEE SHARE THIS,” wrote Facebook user Connor Somerfield. The footage shows a shirtless man submerged in soapy water inside of the fast food restaurant’s industrial sink, which is normally used to clean kitchen items. “Wash yourself!” a uniformed Wendy’s employee seen on camera says to the smiling man in the sink. “It feels like a hot tub. I’m just enjoying life,” the man later says. Since being uploaded on Tuesday, the video has been viewed 86,000 times as of Thursday afternoon. The Wendy’s franchisee that owns the restaurant, Team Schostak, confirmed that the incident did occur at one of its 56 Wendy’s locations. Company vice president of human resources Christian Camp said “As soon as we learned of it, which was this morning, we quickly got into action and approached every person that was involved. An alleged drunk driver in Florida initially declined a breathalyzer test, telling a deputy sheriff on Sunday, “You didn’t pull me over, I pulled you over,” a report said. 63-year-old Juan Zamora gave the puzzling response after flashing his headlights at a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy’s squad car in Ocala in order to ask for directions to an auto parts store. The deputy stopped and smelled alcohol coming from Zamora as he asked the question. The driver, who had a 15-year-old passenger, also had bloodshot eyes. Zamora allegedly admitted to downing two shots of bourbon earlier that day. When he finally took the breathalyzer test, he failed, registering above Florida’s 0.8 legal limit. Authorities later found a bottle of whiskey in his car and a white substance, which field-test positive for cocaine, in Zamora’s shirt sleeve. He was charged with DUI and cocaine possession. A triple dog dare gone wrong. It might seem like it came right out of a movie, but it actually did happen in Green Bay on Friday.
