A Florida woman screamed the names of celebrities while she was arrested after a deputy caught her driving 90-miles-per-hour in a 35-miles-per-hour. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Reena Patel Sanders was driving a Lexus SUV when a deputy saw her speeding down US-1 after midnight on Monday, Aug. 17th. The deputy turned his lights and siren on, but Sanders didn’t stop. She almost crashed after turning left and fishtailing. Eventually, the deputy boxed Sander’s car in and held her at gunpoint. Another deputy got to the scene and tried to help the first deputy in removing Sanders from the car. She resisted arrest and kept pulling away, screaming “names of famous actors.” A “small amount” of marijuana-laced candies were found in Sanders’ SUV during a search. She was taken to jail and charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, DUI, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. (https://bit.ly/2EfXrYr)

No matter how hard you try, sometimes you just can’t fall asleep when you want to. But this scientifically supported method might be one of the simplest. Body temperature plays a big part in falling asleep. Having a high body temperature can make you feel more alert. When it’s bed time, your body tries to cool down before you go to sleep. One trick: sticking your foot (or feet) out of your covers to help your body release some heat. The bottoms of your feet are hairless, and they have special vascular structures to help regulate heat loss.

A study shows a moderate walk several times a week besides boosting fitness can also enhance brain functions and increase performance on cognitive tasks in older adults, reveals a novel study. A gentle stroll three times a week is enough to increase brain connectivity of important brain circuits and improve intelligence.

A man in England called police when he noticed a ladder had been tilted up against his window at 11:30PM. As he was on the phone with emergency dispatchers, he peeked out his window and saw two men getting ready to climb up to his window. But they had stopped to talk first. So the man opened his window and quickly pulled the ladder in, giving them nothing to climb. Police are looking for the men.

To the delight of grownups everywhere, a study has proven what we suspected all along: drinking alcohol can help us creatively solve problems. To test this, the authors gave the participants some bagels and a couple of vodka-and-cranberries, and then had them solve puzzles. The results: Study participants were better at solving the puzzles after the cocktails. So next time you feel stuck on a problem, go ahead — have a cocktail.

In a written statement, Edwards said she regretted the incident, but remains “committed, resolved and focused on her responsibilities to educate all children.” Her statement goes on to explain that during that due to the challenging time of virtual meetings, she had experienced a larger demand on her time, which lead to attempts of multitasking during some of the meetings. According to police, a tipster called 9-1-1 around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday to report that a male suspect approached two individuals and offered to sell them the four-year-old child. Witnesses provided Kentucky State Police officers with the license plate of the suspect’s white Nissan, which led them to a home about five miles away. Inside, they found the child, his 26-year-old mother Gertrude Hinson, and 29-year-old Harry Day. During questioning, Day and Hinson reportedly admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. A search of the residence turned up meth and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Day had visible track marks that were still bleeding. All-day breakfast is one thing, but apparently all-day lunch is going too far. A woman in Ohio was reportedly arrested after causing a disturbance at a Burger King, allegedly because she was unable to order lunch items during breakfast hours. The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Monday at a Burger King in the town of Bucyrus. The restaurant was still serving its breakfast menu at the time and was apparently unable to offer lunch options. The woman nevertheless became upset. She then began yelling and cursing at the restaurant’s employees. Despite the outburst, the workers were still unable to provide the lunch items that the woman requested. Authorities were notified of the disturbance and located the woman in a nearby area. They then discovered she had a warrant out from a previous incident. (https://fxn.ws/31LjNJB)

Nicole Paris’s son and a friend had gone for a long bicycle ride when they got tired on the trip home. So, the boy called his mother for a lift back to their Pennsylvania residence. But when 34-year-old Paris reached the children, she realized that her car was not big enough for the juveniles and their bicycles. So, cops say, Paris “came up with the idea” to place a towel in the car’s rear hatch, which then would serve as a towline for the children to hold onto while sitting atop their bikes. However, as described in a criminal complaint, Paris’s invention failed miserably when her son “lost his grip” on the towel and fell off his bicycle. The boy’s friend then proceeded to run over his pal with his bicycle. During a police investigation of the June 23rd incident, Paris’s son “stated he wanted his mother charged and he would testify in court to this incident.” Paris was charged with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of children. She was also charged with allowing the minors to hang onto a moving vehicle.(https://bit.ly/33W0ksq)

THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

My sister is choosing to have her kids stay home for school, which is fine, but she's going to be working and so is her husband. She's having our mother keep an eye on the kids who are not old enough to be on their own. I think that's a bad idea. My mother has complained to me about it, but will not say anything to my sister. She's always been pretty spoiled and gets her way on just about everything. My mom is a wonderful grandma and want to spend time with her grandkids, but she is going to be obligated to be a full-time caretaker/teacher for three kids. That's a bit too much for her. How do I get my sister to see this? I don't want to start a family fight, but I also don't want my mom to get sick from the extra stress.

Signed – OlderSister

Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a 7-Eleven just before 9:00 a.m. on Aug. 10th. They were told that a man and a woman stole beef jerky and a case of water from the store around 4:00 a.m. and had come back. The pair were spotted by deputies in a blue Lincoln passenger vehicle that matched the description. Deputies pulled the Lincoln over and they saw an aluminum foil that was shaped like a pipe between McNickles’ legs and multiple unopened beef jerky packets. A restaurant in China has apologized after weighing diners in an effort to prevent food waste. The restaurant in the city of Changsha asked customers to stand on scales and scan their data into an app that recommended food choices based on their weight. Signs were posted at the eatery that read, “be thrifty and diligent, promote empty plates” and “operation empty plate” — references to a national campaign to stop wasting food. President Xi Jinping urged people last week to not toss excess food since there has been a shortage of some products due to the Coronavirus pandemic and flooding last month. But the restaurant faced backlash on social media for its attempts to contribute to the national campaign, leading it to post video Saturday to say it was “deeply sorry.” “Our original intentions were to advocate stopping waste and ordering food in a healthy way. We never forced customers to weigh themselves,” the restaurant said. (https://bit.ly/3iJVv9B)
