An Ohio woman reportedly woke up to discover a burglar napping in her guest bedroom after he had broken in overnight, taken a swim in her outdoor pool, and even eaten the family’s leftover chicken. “He just helped himself to everything in our house,” Stacy Steadman told the Associated Press of the bizarre break-in, which occurred at her family home in Canton on Monday morning. Steadman — who lives with her husband, son and brother-in-law — said she saw that a light was on in the spare room, where she then found the not-so-smooth criminal snoozing. The quick-thinking gal — whose husband, Raymond Pearson, had already left for work before the invasion — woke up her brother-in-law, Bryant Pearson, who chased the intruder out of the home. It remains unclear how the man entered the home, although Steadman’s husband had spied the guy walking in the street shirtless before he left for work at 4:00 a.m. He reportedly waited until the wackadoo passed by before driving off. Thankfully, the sleepy chicken-snatcher was arrested by police, who suspected that he was intoxicated and brought him to a hospital for an examination. The man has since been slapped with a burglary charge and issued a court summons.(https://bit.ly/3z9dnlX)

Now we know that Steve Howey, fresh off an eleven-season run on Shameless, has been cast as Harry Tasker, the role played by Schwarzenegger. Similar to the film, the True Lies pilot will follow happily married family man Harry as his wife and daughter remain oblivious about his real job. Of course, they become drawn into an adventure that blows the doors to his secret life wide open, puts his spouse in harm’s way and ends up reigniting the sparks of their relationship as they team up to save the world.

A man is behind bars after police say he carjacked a person while armed with a knife following the BYU vs. Utah football game Saturday evening. Arresting documents show the suspect, 42-year-old William Jerome Ellison of Salt Lake City, was booked into jail for aggravated robbery, interfering with an arresting officer, and failing to disclose his identity. According to the BYU Police Department, an officer responded to a man’s 9-1-1 call saying Ellison attempted to get into his car while threatening him with a knife near the BYU administration building. Ellison was later located by the officer and was told to get on the ground. While the officer waited for backup to arrive, police said Ellison stood up and began to fight. “Thanks to the help of two citizens who jumped in to assist Officer Rigby this situation didn’t escalate, and the suspect was taken into custody without anyone getting hurt,” the BYU Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. The BYU Police Department said Ellison has a “lengthy” criminal history, including serving prison time for a homicide. (https://bit.ly/2VDYZo6)

THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

I've been listening for a while now. I have typed this letter a few times and deleted it before sending. I'm almost 30 years old and I have never been married or even really dated anyone. I've put everything else first in my life and now I wonder if that was a mistake. Last year I lost my job. It was due to COVID, do the company closed and we all lost our jobs. I've already been hired at a new company and it really was a blessing, but it also made me wonder why I put everything else before my own happiness. I'm gonna be 30 soon and every one of my friends and relatives were married and have kids. I had a great job that didn't mean much when the company closed. Now I'm trying to figure out how to even meet people who are my age, or close, and single. I've had friends try to set me up before and that seemed really weird. I'm not sure what I'm asking for, which is why I deleted this message so many times before. Any advice for a single dude in 2021?

Signed – Super Single

The Sioux Falls Police Department arrested a man after they found him afterhours at a bar with a beer in hand. A 53-year-old man was arrested at about 5:30 a.m. Friday, according to police spokesman Sam Clemens. The man was charged with first degree burglary and booked into the Minnehaha County Jail. A burglary alarm notified police of a possible occupant at the bar. Once police arrived, they found a man who was walking around the establishment drinking a beer, Clemens said. Police were unsure how the 53-year-old made his way into the bar. Forced entry was not a factor in the man getting into the bar, Clemens said.(https://bit.ly/3k8t4py)

A Florida mom was arrested for allegedly helping her son and his friend beat up another child. 30-year-old Ashley Ruffin is accused of grabbing the boy by his hair and arm and holding him back while her son and another bully hit him. The victim told police that he was sitting with his friends outside the sports complex at Indian Trails Middle School in Palm Coast when he was attacked by the two boys. His friends ran over to help, and, at some point during the scuffle, the victim said that Ruffin restrained him, allowing her son and the other boy to continue pummeling him. Witnesses, who corroborated the boy’s story, also told cops that Ruffin flashed a taser at one point during the brawl. The victim’s mother reported the incident to a resource officer at the middle school on Wednesday, who in turn flagged it to the sheriff’s office. Ruffin was hit with battery and child abuse charges. She has denied that she tried to hurt a child, and claimed in a Facebook Live video that she was only trying to pull her son away from the altercation. Authorities say the juveniles involved in the altercation may also face battery charges. Flager County Sheriff Rick Staly said that he doubts Ruffin “will receive a mother of the year award.” (https://bit.ly/3z8b7eH)

If you’ve ever had your doubts about the “five-second rule,” a study (Rutgers) didn’t come as much of a surprise. It showed that food dropped on the floor can get pretty germy even if you scoop it up within the proverbial five seconds. Researchers dropped four foods (watermelon, gummy candy, bread and buttered bread) onto four different surfaces (steel, ceramic tile, wood and carpet) that had been contaminated with a harmless relative of disease-causing Salmonella bacteria. The food was allowed to remain in contact with the surfaces for one, five, 30 or 300 seconds before being removed and tested to see if it had become contaminated with the germs. Steel and tile surfaces tended to transfer more bacteria, while transfer rates from wood were more variable. Watermelon showed the greatest contamination, gummy candy the least. Back in 2012 San Diego State University researchers determining bacteria can attach itself to food in less than five seconds. And in 2010 scientists at Clemson also found that bacteria was transferred from tabletops and floors to food within five seconds.

A scorned wife raided her ex-husband's cryogenics lab and stole the frozen brains of people who hoped to be brought back to life. 59-year-old Valeria Udalova and staff from her company grabbed the remains of people who paid thousands of pounds hoping they could be resurrected. Some of the corpses were from Britain and the U.S. and were stored in Valeria's ex-husband, Danila Medvedev’s, lab in the Moscow region of Russia. Reports say that the lab is Russia's leading cryo-storage facility. They drained liquid nitrogen from giant Dewar flasks containing frozen bodies and grabbed these and some detached human brains, then loaded them on trucks. Police were called and intercepted the macabre cargo of human remains preserved by “Frankenstein” technology offering humans the chance to "come back to life” in future. But Medvedev told RTVi: "The police did not catch Valeria. She left, taking someone's brain from the cryo-storage. The brains of our neuro-patients were kept separately, in special metal medical boxes." Police are now examining the rival claims while demanding the feuding ex-spouses guarantee the “integrity” of the frozen corpses and brains as well as the bodies of dozens of dogs and cats that owners wanted to bring back to life in the future. While Elon Musk is working on improvements to Tesla’s autopilot features and teaching a monkey how to play Pong with its mind, Jeff Bezos — his now well-known nemesis — is allegedly partaking in yet another futuristic venture, one that could soon allow humans to live longer. It's called Altos Labs, a "biological reprogramming" tech company currently looking into a variety of methods that could help reverse the ageing process. As of now, the company has raised more than $270 million in funding thanks to massive donations from people all over the world who are banking on the company’s promise. Bezos is said to have a fairly long-standing interest in longevity research. One method being studied by Altos Labs is whether this reprogramming could teach cells to revert back to their 'stem cell' origins, make them re-adapt to the skin and give it a more youthful appearance. In order to do so, Altos Labs has recruited a Nobel Prize winning doctor (Shinya Yamanaka), who will serve as an unpaid senior scientist, chairing the company’s scientific advisory board.
