SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
According to a new survey of 2,000 people, 3 in 4 people won’t judge you for licking your fingers after eating chicken wings…because they do the same. The poll, taken in the US, also found that chicken wings are considered an “old reliable” classic food (63%) and are the favorite among casual-dining appetizers (54%), followed by chips and salsa (46%) and French fries (44%). And chicken wings were found to be a crowd-pleasing appetizer for even the pickiest of eaters. Three out of 4 people agree it’s hard to beat the taste of a chicken wing, which may be why 60% said they’re likely to order them almost every time they go to a restaurant.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Michael J. Fox returns to the screen for the first time in 6 years in a new clip from Season 3 of “Shrinking”. The short clip comes from the opening episode of the new season, “My Bad,” which arrived Jan. 28 on Apple TV. In it, Harrison Ford’s character ‘Paul’, a therapist battling Parkinson’s disease, finds himself in a doctor’s office waiting room, seated next to Fox’s character, ‘Gerry’. Fox’s role on Season 3 of Shrinking was confirmed last spring. It’s the first time he’s acted onscreen since his retirement in 2020, when he made a 2-episode appearance on “The Good Fight”.
Spencer Pratt started working on his reputation as a villain long before he became one on reality TV. He admits in his new book that he once sold pics of a teenage Mary-Kate Olsen partying with her then-boyfriend, Max Winkler, for a whopping $50,000. Pratt spilled the details in his new memoir “The Guy You Loved to Hate: Confessions from a Reality TV Villain”, and he says he doesn’t regret it a single bit. He writes that he used the $50K from the snaps to finance a film he wanted to make – although it never saw the light of day.
Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming says he has “never connected the dots” that he has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. People is reporting on an episode of Heming’s conversation with Cameron Oaks Rogers her podcast “Conversations with Cam”, during which Emma gives an update on her husband’s ongoing struggle. In it, she says: “I think that's like the blessing and the curse of this, is that he never connected the dots that he had this disease, and I'm really happy about that.” Per the Cleveland Clinic, one of Willis’ conditions, anosogosia, is one where “your brain can’t recognize one or more other health conditions you have,” and is commonly seen in people with mental health disorders.

DID YOU KNOW… Some lizards can squirt blood from their eyes. The horned lizard uses this unusual defense to confuse predators. The blood contains chemicals that taste bad to attackers.

OF THE DAY
A bettor at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas wagered a staggering $253,000 on the Super Bowl coin toss. It’s one of the most popular prop bets each year, drawing huge action, despite being a simple 50-50 call. This year, with heads at -103 odds, Cooper Kupp called tails — and Joe Montana flipped heads. The largest reported coin-toss bet ever paid off, earning more than $245,000 for the bold gambler.
Feeding the world’s top athletes is an Olympian undertaking at the Milan-Cortina Games. The main Olympic dining hall serves up to 4,500 meals daily, with Cortina adding 4,000 and Predazzo 2,300 more for over 3,500 athletes, organizers said. Across villages and venues, more than 3 million meals are expected to be served to athletes, staff, media and spectators. Six rotating food stations offer everything from protein to desserts, but the Italian-style carb station steals the show, featuring pasta, pizza and cured meats and cheeses sourced from the Alps. Kitchens use about 10,000 eggs and 450 kilograms of pasta daily. That’s enough trays to stack 60 kilometres high.

✓ Ancient Greek and Roman statues were actually brilliantly colored, not bare marble or stone
✓ In the middle-ages, dead bodies were often used as ammunition in catapults.
✓ The scientific name for the striped skunk is Mephitis mephitis, which is Latin for “stinky stinky”.
✓ A white flag is not actually a sign of surrender for boats at sea. It’s just a request to communicate.
✓ Opposites attract” is a common myth. People are actually attracted to people who look like family members, or those with a similar personality type.
WEIRD NEWS
Just as the Winter Olympics got underway, skiing’s governing body felt the need to swat down what it calls a “wild rumor” about ski jumpers allegedly enhancing their groins…for extra airtime. A German tabloid claimed some athletes were injecting hyaluronic acid or wearing condom-like sheaths to justify looser ski suits…which would, in turn, generate more lift. The story snowballed after anti-doping officials said they’d look into it if drugs were involved. The International Ski Federation flatly denied the claims, saying there’s zero evidence of such tactics. Still, with ski jumping fresh off a suit-tampering scandal, officials are now enforcing ultra-tight equipment checks before and after each jump, and improved 3-D measurements to evaluate athletes in their uniforms — apparently leaving no ‘room’ for funny business.
