SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Adding music to a workout or visuals to a study task isn’t just a way to make it more fun (or at least more tolerable…) — it can also meaningfully boost motivation to keep pushing toward a goal. A study by researchers from Cornell University and London School of Economics found that people judge progress toward goals more by how enjoyable an activity feels, than by how much time they spend on it. Across 9 studies, how much people enjoyed something consistently predicted a stronger sense of accomplishment, which in turn fueled motivation to keep going. Even when participants burned fewer calories or worked at the same pace, fun made them feel more successful. Published in the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, the research suggests that when it comes to reaching your goals, making tasks, such as workouts or studying, more engaging…may matter more than making them longer.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Paramount is looking to revive its “G.I. Joe” franchise, with Max Landis and Danny McBride both working on scripts based on the Hasbro toy franchise. If greenlit, the project would mark a return for Landis, whose career imploded when he was accused by multiple women of abuse at the height of #MeToo. Paramount has overseen 3 “G.I. Joe” movies to date: 2009’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” starring Channing Tatum, and its 2013 sequel “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” featuring Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. The 2021 origin story “Snake Eyes” was a disappointment.

Kelly Osbourne has had it with “cruelty” from online trolls. Hours after attending the 2026 BRIT Awards to collect a lifetime achievement award on behalf of her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, alongside her mother, Sharon, she took to her Instagram Stories to respond to the negativity she’s been experiencing on social media. Quote: “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.” The statement came 5 days after she was forced to address body-shaming comments about her recent change in appearance.

DID YA KNOW!?

DID YOU KNOW… Your brain uses about 20 percent of your body’s energy. Despite accounting for only about two percent of body weight, it consumes a significant amount of fuel. Thinking is energy-intensive work.

JOKE OF THE DAY

SCOOP OF THE DAY

For decades, egg yolks were cast as ‘heart villains’, blamed for raising cholesterol and clogging arteries. But a major scientific review suggests the fear was overblown. Across clinical trials and global data, moderate egg consumption didn’t increase heart disease risk for most people. Eggs raised “bad” LDL cholesterol only slightly while boosting “good” HDL at the same time, leaving peoples’ key ratio of cholesterol unchanged. Yolk antioxidants, like lutein and zeaxanthin, may even protect hearts from damage. Japan’s high egg intake alongside low heart disease rates is one of the examples cited by the research.

Because OK, why not? Great Wolf Lodge is diving into culinary chaos with a limited-edition ‘Ranch Milkshake’, launching tomorrow. The $3.10 concoction blends vanilla ice cream with…you guessed it…ranch dressing. The Ranch Milkshake comes topped with carrots, celery, whipped cream, and crispy chicken. Available at all 23 locations of the indoor waterpark through March 20, the shake is marketed as something you can sip…or use as a dip. Social media reaction has been swift and horrified, with many calling it “disgusting”, and one writing: “Dear God, it’s really made with ice cream… I assumed it was mashed potatoes or something.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yc2rdubu

WEIRD NEWS

Because I’m sure this is what everyone has been asking for, you can now buy a music-streaming urn. Spotify has teamed up with Liquid Death to release the “Eternal Playlist Urn”. It’s a cremation urn with a built-in Bluetooth speaker, that the company says is “the world’s first wireless speaker designed to bring your music somewhere it’s never been before.” Priced at $495 and sold for a limited time, it lets users (if that’s the right word…) stream music straight from the lid. To mark the launch, Spotify also debuted an Eternal Playlist Generator that builds a personalized “forever” playlist using your listening history, and your answers to questions like “What’s your eternal vibe?” and “What’s your go-to ghost noise?” The project fits Liquid Death’s stunt-marketing legacy, which previously included selling cans sipped by Ozzy Osbourne — DNA included, cloning not guaranteed.
