SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

A new survey says that messy homes are quietly eating away at our free time. Among 2,000 adults, people reported missing about 2 fun events in the past 3 months, avoiding hosting guests twice, and even having 2 household arguments…all because of clutter. Around 64% said they can’t truly relax until everything is clean, and 69% described cleaning as a “never-ending” task. On average, people lose about 6 hours a week to household chores, from laundry to mopping, leaving many feeling exhausted and short on downtime. In fact, 7 in 10 said that adulthood is less fun than they expected, with only about 4 hours of personal time a day.

Here are some additional stats from the survey, taken in the US…

• 18% of the average person’s year is spent on “free time”

• 15% struggle to find any extra time for life they imagined

49% need 30+ minutes just to mentally prepare to mop

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Jason and Kylie Kelce star in a comedic Western-style mini-movie promoting Jason and Travis Kelce’s beer brand, Garage Beer. The 16-minute video marks Jason and Kylie’s first acting project together and features playful nods to their real-life relationship. Titled “The Last True Cold One,” the film starts with Jason and his trusty horse, Travis, sitting by the campfire. But when Jason goes to drink his beer, he discovers that his loyal steed has downed it all himself. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/29wrzkna

The world is falling apart in the first look at “The Big Bang Theory” spinoff series “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe”. Castmembers Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie teased the show at CCXP Mexico City. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe centers on Sussman as comic book store owner ‘Stuart Bloom’, who was often featured on TBBT when his pals ‘Leonard’ (Johnny Galecki) and ‘Sheldon’ (Jim Parsons) would visit his shop. The new program features Stuart doing his best to restore reality after he breaks a device that Sheldon and Leonard had built, which inadvertently causes a multiverse armageddon. The show is set to begin streaming on HBO Max in July. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3jkhdads

SCOOP OF THE DAY

You can still get your hands on 4 seats together for the World Cup final – but it’ll cost more than a luxury mansion. A set of tix for behind the goal at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium is listed at about $2.3 million per ticket, totaling over $9 million. Even nearby seats are “only” $16K–$24K. The seats are up for sale on the FIFA Marketplace, an official platform where people can resell their tickets. FIFA does not control prices on this portal, but still pockets a 15% cut from both sides. The cheapest resale price of a standard ticket for the final just under $11,000 on the marketplace. FUN FACT FOR YOU:
Share this with your friends... they'll think you're really smart!

✓ Scientists believe that octopuses are as smart as dogs.

✓ The word “noon” originally meant “3pm.”

✓ Pilgrims refused to eat lobsters because they thought they were huge insects.

✓ Blue-eyed people tend to have a higher alcohol tolerance than those with darker eyes.

The first artificial Christmas trees were produced by a toilet brush manufacturer. They used the same bristles, simply dyeing them green.

WEIRD NEWS

A group of monkeys have taken to eating dirt because tourists keep feeding them junk food. In a study, Gibraltar’s Barbary macaques were found to deliberately consume calcium-rich red clay after snacking on biscuits, chips, chocolate, and even ice cream. Scientists think the soil helps soothe their stomachs and counter foods their bodies can’t properly digest – especially dairy. The behavior is so common it may be socially learned, spreading between monkeys as a kind of coping habit shaped by human handouts.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

65% of women in a relationship say they don’t believe their man when he tells them THIS. What is it?

Answer: That he’s sick

THE LIST

SECRET MENU…INGREDIENTS:

Here are some surprising food product ingredients that you’re probably eating, but didn’t know about it until now…

☞ Cockroaches in coffee: Some coffee beans become infested before processing, and small insect fragments may remain. Quality control removes most, but not always everything.

☞ Parasitic worms in fish: Fish can contain dead parasites even after cleaning. Freezing or proper cooking kills them, making the fish safe to eat.

☞ Minerals (“rocks”) in your tofu: Additives like calcium carbonate (chalk) and silicon dioxide (sand-derived) are used for texture and stability in tofu and other foods and products, like bread and toothpaste. They’re generally considered safe…but sound alarming.

☞ Wood in ice cream: Cellulose from wood pulp is used as a thickener or stabilizer. It helps texture but large amounts may affect gut bacteria.

☞ Laxative ingredients in plant-based meats: Methyl cellulose helps mimic meat texture and juiciness. It also acts as a laxative, especially in higher quantities.

☞ Wax coatings on fruits: Fruits like apples and bananas may be coated with wax (sometimes from insects or plants) to preserve freshness. These coatings can trap dirt or chemicals.

☞ Food waste in supplements: Protein powders and additives often come from byproducts like bones, skins, or fruit pulp. This reduces waste but isn’t always obvious to consumers.

☞ Petrochemical-derived flavorings in your pudding, etc: Some artificial flavors are made from petrochemicals but are chemically identical to natural ones. They’re cheaper and easier to produce.

☞ Arsenic in rice: Rice can absorb arsenic from soil and water more than other crops. Levels are monitored, but regular consumption raises concerns.
