SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
Many people assume that having more money would automatically improve their mental health. But while financial security can definitely reduce stress over bills, housing, healthcare, and retirement, experts say wealth comes with its own challenges. In a new Time article, a mental-health specialist who has worked with some of the world’s richest families says he often sees loneliness, family conflict, and emotional struggles hidden behind luxury. Unlimited resources can make it easier to avoid difficult conversations, consequences, and compromises that help build strong relationships. In some cases, money can even worsen family problems by delaying accountability. Research continues to show that money cannot substitute for honesty, vulnerability, accountability, or love, the foundations of psychological wellbeing.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Joe Manganiello is showing off a new look on the cover of his upcoming memoir “Bloodlines”, out October 13. The black-and-white cover portrait shows him in a zoomed-in shot from his forehead down, displaying his striking, rugged facial features. The book will detail “a previously undisclosed health ordeal – marked by multiple near-death experiences and medical crises that led him beyond medicine and into a remarkable, globe-spanning quest that revealed answers about his ancestry, inherited trauma, and the deeper histories we carry”, according to the official synopsis.
Tom Hardy might have the final laugh in the “MobLand” firing fiasco, as a new report claims Paramount bosses are considering bringing him back. Hardy’s exit from the hit series is said to have angered viewers, sparking heavy backlash, which left producers stunned and in “crisis” mode over the future of the show. Hardy had reportedly gotten into multiple clashes with the producers over filming schedules and delays, which ultimately caused them to let him go.

OF THE DAY
Great news for dads everywhere…and those who share their sense of humor: Dad jokes deserve more respect than they get, because they’re good for father-child relationships. Researchers who analyzed more than 32,000 jokes posted on Reddit found that the most popular ones typically use puns, literal interpretations, and unexpected twists. Among the favorites were: “So long, boiling water. You will be mist,” “I’m worried about the calendar. Its days are numbered,” and “What’s blue and smells like red paint? Blue paint.” Experts say these groan-worthy jokes not only contribute to the bonds between a dad and his kids, they also ease stress, and boost mood. And even when they trigger eye rolls instead of laughter, dad jokes serve as a shared ritual that fosters warmth, playfulness, and emotional connection between family members.
A man has gone viral after creating an AI-powered water gun turret to keep pigeons off his balcony. Frustrated by the birds leaving droppings everywhere, he combined a battery-powered water gun, camera, mini-computer, motors and an object-recognition AI system. When a pigeon enters the area, the camera identifies it, the turret aims automatically, and a burst of water sends the bird on its way. Video of the invention impressed social media users, many saying they’d buy one immediately. Some even suggested adapting the technology to deter other unwanted animal visitors. WEIRD NEWS
In the Bible, the ark survived an epic flood. Yet the owners of Kentucky’s Noah’s ark attraction are demanding their insurance company bail them out after heavy rains ironically caused nearly $1 million in damages. Kentucky’s Ark Encounter, a life-sized replica of Noah’s Ark, is suing after heavy rains in 2017 and 2018 allegedly triggered a landslide that damaged its access road. While the massive wooden ark itself was unharmed, the road had to be rebuilt. Operators claim their insurers refused to cover the damage and are seeking damages in court.

THE LIST
COLLECTOR’S ITEMS THAT AREN’T WORTH KEEPING – OR BUYING:
It’s yard sale season, which means it’s also “be honest about what’s actually worth money” season. Here are 10 collectibles that people think will cash in… but usually won’t:
✗Beanie Babies: Once flipped for huge profits in the ’90s, most are now worth less than the gas it’d take to drive to the sale.
✗Pez Dispensers: Fun? Absolutely. Valuable? Not unless you’ve got a massive or truly rare set. Most go for pocket change.
✗Newer Comic Books: Unless it’s a historic first appearance, modern comics lose value faster than you can bag and board them.
✗Royal Family Memorabilia: Everyone bought the mugs and plates – and now everyone’s trying to sell them.
✗Pogs: Peak ’90s playground currency, now barely worth the material they’re made of.
✗Porcelain Dolls: They take up a whole room… and might earn you enough to buy a sandwich from that room’s future tenant. (Worth $10, hauntings included!)
✗Model Train Sets: A few rare pieces exist, but most sets are so common they sell for a fraction of what collectors hope.
✗Barbie Dolls: Most of ‘em, anyway. Unless you’ve got a pristine original from 1959, most Barbies are priced like, well… toys.
✗VHS & DVD Collections: Streaming didn’t just kill Blockbuster – it crushed the resale value of your movie shelf too.
✗Vinyl Records: Vinyl’s cool again, but there’s a lot of it out there. Unless you’ve got rare pressings or iconic originals, your milk crate is more “vibe” than valuable.
✗Happy Meal Toys: Without original packaging and perfect condition, these are more nostalgia than nest egg.
