SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

New research shows that people prefer negotiating with women – even when the final deal turns out to be exactly the same. Across 5 studies involving more than 2,400 participants, researchers found women were rated higher for trust, fairness, listening, and communication. The difference wasn’t about women getting better financial results: men and women achieved similar outcomes, but women appear to have an advantage because their negotiation style makes others more comfortable, especially their willingness to accept offers. Researchers say that small social advantage could add up over time, creating more opportunities as people become more likely to want to work with the same negotiators again.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

Kristen Bell had both “Frozen” and baseball on the mind as she treated sports fans to a surprise performance from ‘Princess Anna’. On Saturday, she popped up in the stands of the Savannah Bananas game against the Indianapolis Clowns in Denver, where she sang her Disney character’s song ‘For the First Time in Forever’ in a mashup with Tony-nominated pitcher Derek Klena singing ‘Dancing Through Life’ from ‘Wicked’. The team posted video of the moment, writing: “The mashup we never knew we needed.” The performance also included ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’ from Dirty Dancing, complete with the lift. All hell is about to break loose in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During San Diego Comic-Con 2026, it was revealed that a “Ghost Rider” movie starring Ryan Gosling is officially in the works. The upcoming project will be directed by Shawn Levy, the mastermind behind “Deadpool & Wolverine”, and is set to hit theaters in 2028. Fans have been asking to see the ‘Spirit of Vengeance’ take over the spotlight for years now, and at long last, hell’s new king is coming.

SCOOP OF THE DAY

ARE YOU A FAN OF THE FAN?

Some people sleep with a fan on – no matter the weather. And others can’t stand the fan. Here, according to doctors, are some of the ways that the constant breeze of a fan can affect you…

1. Allergies or asthma

Fans can circulate dust, pollen and pet dander throughout the room, potentially triggering allergies or worsening asthma symptoms. Dusty fan blades can add even more particles to the air.

2. Stiff muscles

Cool air blowing continuously on one area of the body may cause muscles to tense up. Since you also remain relatively still while sleeping, you may wake up with soreness, particularly in the neck.

3. Congestion

Constant airflow can dry out your nose, mouth and throat, causing your body to produce extra mucus. This can lead to a stuffy nose, sore throat, coughing or sinus discomfort.

4. Dry skin and eyes

A steady stream of air can pull moisture from your skin and eyes while you sleep. People with eczema, psoriasis or dry eyes may be especially susceptible to irritation.

How to Reduce the Side Effects:

• Aim the fan toward a wall or use its oscillating setting rather than having it blow directly at you.

Regularly dust and vacuum your bedroom to reduce allergens that can be stirred up by the fan. Clean the fan blades, too.

WEIRD NEWS

Uber’s latest Lost and Found Index reveals that some of the most-commonly left behind by riders include phones, wallets and keys. But among this year’s oddest forgotten items were dentures, a wedding gown, a kitchen sink faucet, human hair, a Donny Osmond group photo, a package of live butterflies, breast milk, an ankle monitor, and even a dishwasher. Uber also reports an increase in lost Labubu collectible toys, workout gear, vapes, and, oddly enough, teeth.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Stats show the average person goes through 3 of THESE per year. What are they?

THE LIST

ODD USES FOR WD-40:

Sure, it lubricates, but if you believe what’s been written online, it can do many other things, such as remove makeup from carpet, unstick Legos, kill weeds, and keep squirrels from climbing into bird feeders. Here are some other uses for WD-40…but we don’t recommend trying them unless you have a way to do it safely and without damaging stuff…

☞ Cleans & protect cowboy boots, prevents mud from sticking to footwear.

☞ Removes marker from dry erase boards.

☞ Removes tough glue from fingers.

☞ Keeps wicker chairs from squeaking.

☞ Cleans chrome fixtures, piano keys, copper pots & pans…and seashells.

☞ Unkinks gold chains.

☞ Prevents mildew on outdoor fountains.

☞ Removes soap scum from tubs & showers.

☞ Loosens burrs and thistles from dogs and horses.

And, if you dare, it eases arthritis pain. Just spray it onto the joint that hurts.
