SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
If you can imagine, we could soon see the end of wrinkles and gray hair, according to a new study. German researchers say they have identified the potential for a variety of anti-ageing treatments involving an array of naturally-occurring hormones that could be used to slow some of the body’s ageing processes. The researchers found that melatonin, known for its role in regulating sleep, may also help keep skin youthful. And several other hormones – such as melanocyte-stimulating hormone (which affects skin pigmentation) and oxytocin – were also found to help keep skin and hair youthful by helping protect them from UV damage. The scientists hope these discoveries will lead to new anti-ageing treatments called “senotherapeutics”. These drugs work by targeting and removing cells that stop dividing and build up in the body as we age.

Michael Gandolfini, son of the late James Gandolfini, is opening up about the possibility of reprising the ‘Tony Soprano’ role in a potential “Sopranos” prequel series. Mentioning the show’s creator, he told “Entertainment Tonight”: “It’s David (Chase’s) universe. It’s up to David, ultimately. I know that David’s working on some other things, not Sopranos-related.” Michael Gandolfini added that he would “love” to work with Chase again but doesn’t think the character of ‘Tony’ will return.
Disney+ has revealed that “Doctor Who” Season 2 will premiere on the streaming platform on April 12, with UK audiences able to watch on BBC the same day. The 8-episode second season (Season 15 overall) will then premiere new episodes weekly. “The Traitors U.S.” host Alan Cumming is set to guest star in the second episode and voice the character ‘Mr. Ring-a-Ding’, a happy, funny, singalong cartoon who lives in Sunny Town with his friend ‘Sunshine Sally’.

OF THE DAY
According to a new report, the average American lives 18 miles from their mom.
A new startup wants to create genetically modified pets — that glow in the dark. The “Los Angeles Project” aims to create more desirable pets through genetic engineering, and has plans to create glow-in-the-dark hypoallergenic cats, dogs, and rabbits – and possibly, one day, actual unicorns. It’s the brainchild of biohacker Josie Zayner, who in 2017 injected herself with the gene-editing tool Crispr during a conference, and livestreamed it. Zayner says the Los Angeles Project is all about making animals that are “more complex and interesting and beautiful and unique” than the ones that currently exist.
New stomach-churning research shows that each toilet flush releases clouds of bacteria-laden water droplets into the air, with some toilet designs creating more health concerns than others. Chinese researchers found that “squat” toilets release up to 2.6 times more bacteria into the air compared to “bidet”-style toilets, with a second flush increasing bacterial release even further. And especially concerning, it was found that most of the bacteria-laden droplets are small enough to stay airborne and reach deep into lungs when inhaled. The good news is that proper ventilation can reduce airborne bacteria concentrations by up to 2.2 times.

WEIRD NEWS
A group of scientists say they are getting close to being able to decipher the emotions of animals. The research team, from the University of Copenhagen, claims that by using a form of AI, they are able to distinguish between positive and negative emotional states in various animals. After, using machine learning to analyze distinct calls from cows, pigs, and other animals, they say they realized that certain acoustic signals indicate mood shifts, and identify which sounds relate to pleasant or unpleasant experiences. They say their findings could change how we handle livestock and wildlife, and “revolutionize animal welfare”.

THE LIST
THE BEST “SNL” CAST MEMBERS:
“Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary special on Sunday reminded many of us of some of the beloved actors and classic characters who have been featured on the show over the years. Here are the 10 best SNL cast members ever, as ranked by the website DenofGeek.com:
1. Will Ferrell: “Presence” goes a long way in comedy. Even though his physical and comedic presence made him the focal point of just about every sketch he starred in, he was somehow able to work alongside everyone else in a way that commands attention rather than demands it. And he’s simply effortlessly funny.
2. Eddie Murphy: As one of the funniest people who ever lived, he would have become a star even without SNL. But when SNL appeared to be dead in the cultural waters, Murphy’s comedic power made it must-see TV.
3. Bill Hader: He transformed his struggle with stage fright and panic attacks into an asset that helped make him one of SNL’s most likable, versatile, intelligent, and downright funny performers ever.
4. Phil Hartman: Known among the crew as “The Glue” for his ability to keep the show together when everything should have been falling apart, his ability to adapt to absolutely everything made everyone around him look like the brightest stars.
5. John Belushi: Amongst a cast of undeniable comedic geniuses who were pushing a strange style of humor, he was a wrecking ball who delivered the big laughs. Plus, he was the inspiration for the great Chris Farley.
6.
Kate McKinnon: Her willingness to explore the oddest places just to
find that thing that will make you laugh is surpassed only by her
ability to do so time and time again.
7. Dan Aykroyd: His ability to bring even the most outlandish character concepts to life led to “The Blues Brothers” and even “Coneheads” becoming major motion pictures. And as a writer, he helped shape the style that SNL became known for.
8. Gilda Radner: She is undoubtedly one of the most influential female comedians in TV history. Her work paved the way for nearly every female SNL cast member that followed.
9. Tina Fey: Her work behind the desk of SNL’s Weekend Update segments made her an on-screen legend.
10. Chris Farley: Best remembered for his willingness to do pretty much anything for a laugh.
