A Harvard genetics expert claims that monitoring your fingernail growth can provide insights into aging and biological health. Dr. David Sinclair explains that nail growth is linked to cell regeneration, and the faster your nails grow, the healthier and younger your body is, biologically. Studies dating back to 1979 found that fingernail growth slows by about 0.5% each year after age 30. That decrease in growth is associated with aging, as the body’s ability to generate new, healthy cells declines. Dr. Sinclair believes nail growth is a useful indicator of biological age, distinct from chronological age. Fast-growing nails could indicate slower aging, while slower growth might suggest the opposite. Additionally, as people age, they produce less keratin, leading to more brittle and fragile nails, which is also linked to the aging process.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
“Captain America: Brave New World” topped the domestic box office in its third weekend, in spite of a major slowdown. The first MCU film of 2025 is estimated to have taken in $15 over Oscars weekend, earning the #1 spot for the 3rd weekend in a row. That’s not a huge achievement, considering that its only new release competition was the Woody Harrelson survival thriller “Last Breath”, which made an estimated $7.3 million. All told, it proved to be the second-softest weekend at the domestic box office so far this year, with a total take of $55.5 million, just better than Super Bowl weekend’s haul of $54.2 million.
Millie Bobby Brown is addressing rumors about her potentially playing Britney Spears. Following past comments about her interest in the role, the 21-year-old actress spoke about the possibility of playing Spears at the premiere of her new movie “The Electric State”. The newly-blonde “Stranger Things” actress said: “I would love nothing more than to be a part of her story – but that’s her story, and I am in full support of her bringing her story to life how she wants to.” Brown expressed interest in portraying the pop star in a 2022 appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show”.
DID YA KNOW!?
Did you know only 18 out of 1 million Lego pieces are defective? The molds at the manufacturing plant at Lego are so precise and effective that just 18 out of 1 million are found to be defective. That's out of the 20 billion pieces that are manufactured every year!

A report claims that birds can feel the effects of alcohol, just like humans.
Physical photographs, of all things, are making a comeback, thanks to Gen Z — who are printing twice as many pics as older generations these days. In a poll (of 2,000 adults in the UK), it was found that 43% of those aged 18-27 regularly turn digital photos into physical ones, compared to just 5% of Baby Boomers (aged 60-78). The average Gen Z prints pictures 4 times per year — double the amount of any other generation.
Researchers are saying they may have the answer to why so many of your messages seem to be left on “read” by the recipient. Scientists at Binghampton University determined that grammatically unnecessary punctuation, such as adding periods between words or sending a series of one-word texts communicate “an increased sense of intensity or emotion” by seemingly adding deliberate emphasis. The study concluded: “Readers assume that the decision to include a textism — such as…a period after each word or putting each word in its own text bubble — was deliberate and meaningful.”

WEIRD NEWS
I’m fully aware how a negative online review can have an effect on your business, but this guy’s reaction might have been a little much. Management of a ramen shop in Japan has placed a bounty on the heads of 2 male customers who left a bad review. The owner of TOYOJIRO, a highly-rated Jiro-style ramen restaurant in Kyoto, took to Instagram to threatening the duo, who slapped his eatery with a one-star review. He also posted their photo – and offered a cash reward to whomever could identify them. In the post, which has since been removed, the restaurant owner wrote: “I saw your post, and you seem a bit weird…you should probably avoid eating out. Someday, someone like you will get screwed. I don’t care — just come directly, and I’ll deal with you.” On its Instagram Story, the restaurant also offered a reward of 100,000 yen (US$662) per customer to anyone who could track them down, and said the search would continue until the two revisited the establishment and wrote a positive review. After social media users criticized his threatening posts, the owner apologized.

THE LIST
HIGHEST-PAID ATHLETES IN THE WORLD IN 2024:
Cristiano Ronaldo was the highest paid athlete last year, according to a list compiled by Sportico. The soccer superstar earned a reported $260 million. That pile of cash for the 40-year-old came from $215 million in salary and winnings for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia and the Portugal national team, plus $45 million in endorsements. Here is the rest of the top 10…
2. Steph Curry (basketball) – $153.8M
3. Tyson Fury (boxing) – $147M
4. Lionel Messi (soccer) – $135M
5. LeBron James (basketball) – $133.2M
6. Neymar (soccer) – $133M
7. Oleksandr Usyk (boxing) – $122M
8. Karim Benzema (soccer) – $116M
9. Kylian MbappĂ© (soccer) – $110M

Interestingly
— and disappointingly — no female athletes made the top 100. US
tennis sensation Coco Gauff was the highest-earning female athlete at
$30.4 million. Dak Prescott was the top-earning NFL player. The
Dallas Cowboys QB came 12th with earnings of $100.4 million. Top
baseball player is Shohei Ohtani, at #21, with $72.5M.
