SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH

Adults usually start to worry about their phone’s battery when it hits 38% — and now researchers are calling this the “panic percentage.” This threshold arrives long before most phones display a warning, with iPhone battery displays not turning red until they drop below 20%. 34% of people said they stay calm until their battery dips below 20%. And about one in 8 said they’re good until their phone battery plummets below 10%.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN

The picturesque San Fransico house, occupied by the Tanner family on “Full House”, is off the market. The iconic residence has sold for the whopping price of $6 million. Fans would remember the familiar landmark, as it was seen 1987-95 in exterior shots while the series — starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Bob Saget, John Stamos and Dave Coulier — aired for 8 seasons, and again during the 2016 revival “Fuller House”. The inside of the home was never seen on camera, but it is said to be equally impressive. Built in 1883, it was purchased by Full House producer Jeff Franklin in 2016 for $4 million, with the hopes of turning it into a tourist attraction. After renovating it, he sold it in 2020 for $5.4 million.

We’re not sure who needs to know this, but a third “Angry Birds Movie” is coming. Paramount takes over as distributor from Sony Pictures, which released the first “Angry Birds Movie” in 2016, grossing $352 million worldwide. Then came a 2019 sequel that didn’t fly nearly as high with $152 million, though the films have been very popular on streaming over the past 5 years. Angry Birds 3 is scheduled for release on January 29, 2027.

NBC’s comedy institution “Saturday Night Live” is crossing the pond to launch a British edition in partnership with British broadcaster Sky. The iconic sketch show, a cornerstone of American pop culture since 1975, will debut “Saturday Night Live U.K.” in 2026, bringing its mix of political satire, celeb impersonations and musical performances to British and Irish audiences. “SNL” mastermind Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer for the UK adaptation while continuing to steer the American show. The London-based version will follow the same format that has made SNL a cultural juggernaut, and details on the spinoff — including cast members, and an exact premiere date — will roll out in the coming months.

DID YA KNOW!?

Did you know Shakespeare invented more than 1,700 words? William Shakespeare is known amongst centuries as being one of the greatest playwrights of all time, producing masterful pieces like Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer’s Night Dream. However, in order to create his infamous plays and poems, he sometimes resorted to making up his own words-- some of which we use today! You can thank The Bard for words like a moonbeam, laughable, eyeball, bump, puking, champion, bedroom, excitement, and zany.

SCOOP OF THE DAY

It’s wonderful that spring is finally here – except for one thing: Spring cleaning. But here’s something that might help you clear some of that clutter that’s been hanging around your place for years. A recent study found that taking photographs of those sentimental items that are so hard to let go of makes it easier for people to donate them – and get rid of them once and for all. Researchers at Pennsylvania State University found that not only are people are more likely to be OK with giving up items they have photographs of, they also discovered that there is a difference between donating and selling clutter. When people are selling their stuff, taking photos doesn’t have the same impact as when they are donating. Why? Not sure, but they might study that in the future. In the meantime, get busy snapping pics of your ‘treasures’, and then donate them to a worthy organization, so someone else can use them.

WEIRD NEWS

Emergency responders in New Zealand quickly launched a search following a report of swimmers in distress off the Matua coast, but it turned out the “swimmers” were in no danger at all. Cops responded alongside a rescue helicopter and the Coastguard, and searched the area for about 45 minutes before giving up. Later, a police representative told media that the search was called off when the reported struggling swimmers . . . “turned out to be geese.”
