A study carried out by the University of Pennsylvania analyzed thousands of cases of canine behavior — and concluded that dachshunds (wiener dogs) top the global ranking for aggressiveness. The data, from 2024, shows that one out of every 5 dachshunds bit or tried to bite unfamiliar people, surpassing breeds traditionally considered dangerous. The researchers explained that this pattern is not random, since the breed was developed in Germany for badger hunting in confined spaces, where quick reactions, extreme bravery, and a consistently offensive attitude toward larger animals were required.

The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced. Of this year’s crop of 17 hopefuls, 10 are appearing on the ballot for the first time. Among those up for consideration this year are: The Black Crowes, INXS, Phil Collins, and Billy Idol. Also from the rock camp are: Iron Maiden, Oasis, Melissa Etheridge and Joy Division/New Order. Other nominees include: Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Pink, Sade, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan. The 2026 induction ceremony will take place in the fall, with the exact date to be announced.
Crispin Glover has been accused by an alleged ex-girlfriend of holding her captive in his home as a “sex slave” in a bombshell lawsuit. According to court documents, the ex, referred to as Jane Doe, claims she was “held captive” by the “Back to the Future” actor in 2024 and “used for sex and free labor…under false pretenses.” The suit says Glover “lured and manipulated Jane Doe into abandoning her home and belongings in the UK for work with him…in the entertainment industry”, and when she “made it clear that she was not going to simply go along with Mr Glover’s increasingly bizarre and inappropriate demands,” Glover allegedly “unlawfully evicted” the woman.

According to research on the average attention span, you can look at a screen for exactly 47 seconds before becoming distracted by something else. Digital technology, endless scrolling algorithms, and blurred work-life boundaries have cut the average screen focus from 2½ minutes to under a minute over 20 years, according to University of California research. That means most of us are switching tasks, tabs, or apps 3 times faster than we did in the early 2000s. To combat this, experts suggest taking 3 deep breaths, to slow your heart rate and signal your brain to pause. Then put your phone on silent and close any tabs or apps not needed for the task at hand. Finally, pick exactly one thing to focus on for the next 5-10 minutes.
Tel Aviv University researchers have found that plants under stress, such as dehydration or when being cut, “scream”. They emit tiny ultrasonic clicking sounds that are far above the range of human hearing, but they may be detected by insects, animals, or even nearby plants. Scientists believe these sounds could be linked to internal pressure changes in the plant’s water system, when the plant is struggling to move water through its tissues. So, while it’s not a scream in the emotional sense, it is a real biological signal that something is wrong.
