SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
If you’d like to work from home, new research says you should aim to work for a younger boss…and a newer company. The National Bureau of Economic Research found that people who work at companies founded after 2015 work from home nearly twice as often as those at companies founded before 1990. And if the CEO is under 30, the average WFH rate is 1.4 days per week, compared with 1.1 days, when the CEO is 60 or older. This likely points to a future of more people working remotely, as younger leaders take over. But for now, the easiest way to ensure you can let the dog out while in a meeting is to be your own boss: Those who are self-employed WFH more than twice as often as employees.
BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN
Oscar-winner Michael Douglas will have a memoir out this fall, a “raw, sweeping” account he says will illuminate his personal and professional lives. In a statement, Douglas said: “I’ve finally decided it’s time to tell my story on my own terms.” He also said of the book, which is set for release Oct. 6: “Fame can blur the truth; this is my attempt to bring it back into focus.” The 81-year-old actor has been on screen, and in the news, for decades. The son of Hollywood giant Kirk Douglas, he broke through in the 1970s in the hit TV series “The Streets of San Francisco” and went on to star in cultural touchstones like “Fatal Attraction,” “Wall Street” and “Basic Instinct.”
Winona Ryder has booked a guest star role in “Wednesday” Season 3. That basically means a “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice” reunion is set for the hit show’s third season. Wednesday star Jenna Ortega played Ryder’s daughter in the film, while Ryder’s longtime collaborator Tim Burton directed the film, and continues to direct and executive produce Wednesday. The role marks a swift return to Netflix for Ryder, who recently starred in the 5th and final season of “Stranger Things”. Details on her role in Wednesday are being kept under wraps.

Dating coach Margarita Nazarenko explained in an Instagram video why men should buy women flowers, using what she calls “bro science.” In the clip, she points out that a nice bouquet of flowers might cost $40–$80…and will generally last 3-7 days. And “every time she walks past the flowers, she thinks of you. That’s multiple positive mental impressions per day. It’s basically low-cost brand reinforcement about how great you are.” They show effort without pressure, build emotional credit, and you know she’ll probably post pics of the bouquet to social media, signaling to others that she feels valued, and thereby increasing her feelings of attachment to you. Nazarenko suggests giving flowers not just on Valentine’s Day but randomly throughout the year, creating what she calls “obsession”… in a good way. Women responded to her post with thanks and enthusiasm, though some said the fact that some guys need the explanation is a red flag. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/27uzd9v9

WEIRD NEWS
Most theme park fans are thrilled to ride their favorite attraction a few dozen times. Not Jon Hale of Brea, California. He’s ridden Radiator Springs Racers at Disneyland’s California Adventure more than 15,000 times. Hale first got on the “Cars” movie-themed ride in 2012 after major weight-loss surgery and knee replacements, celebrating a healthier chapter of his life. Since then, he’s documented every spin—tracking car color, race lane and wins—on Instagram and in a notebook. He reached the 15,000 mark on December 8, 2025, averaging 13 rides per visit.
