Do you say “please and “thank you” to your chatbot? Polling 2,000 office workers who use AI, researchers found 86% regularly say “please” and “thank you” to AI tools, while 27% do it every time. Many respondents believe politeness improves the quality of AI responses, even when prompts are unclear. Others said they simply don’t want to be rude. Some even joked they’re staying polite now, in case future “robot overlords” remember who treated them nicely. The study revealed 41% prefer to address AI like a tool, while 23% address it like they would any other human being. Most of those who treat AI as a tool, believe it’s important they remain objective and direct with the technology. Three-quarters of those who treat AI like humans also keep their chatbots gender-neutral, and only a quarter give their AI a gender. 14% prefer female, 11% prefer male.

John Lithgow is only getting better with age. With his latest Tony Awards win for actor in a play for “Giant,” Lithgow, at 80, became the oldest man ever to win a competitive acting Tony. The record was previously held by Roy Dotrice, who won at age 77 for his work in the 2000 “A Moon for the Misbegotten.” In Giant, a drama about Roald Dahl’s antisemitism, Lithgow also opened the longest gap between competitive acting Tony wins in the awards’ history at 53 years. His first came in 1973, for featured actor in a play in “The Changing Room,” a span that surpasses Angela Lansbury’s previous mark of 43 years.
Netflix has revealed the star of its upcoming “Scooby Doo: Origins”, the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise that ‘Scooby’ will appear as a real dog. The series, currently in production in Atlanta, is set to premiere in 2027. The just-released teaser begins from a dog’s POV, with the sound of paws running on the ground and an occasional bark. The quick clip then cuts to to the adorable ‘Scooby-Doo’ excitedly jumping into ‘Shaggy’s’ arms. The pup also gets the last word (or bark) in the clip. The logline says: “Scooby-Doo: Origins is a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3uu9kkb7

DID YOU KNOW… Some insects can hear with their knees. Grasshoppers and crickets have hearing organs on their legs. Sound travels through vibrations rather than ears.

Apple is reportedly exploring a controversial new idea: AirPods with built-in cameras, potentially turning its popular earbuds into AI-powered “smart vision” devices. According to reports, the goal is to let Siri interpret the wearer’s surroundings for tasks like navigation, shopping, and real-world assistance. While the hardware is said to be in advanced testing, the software – especially Siri’s visual intelligence – may not be ready, and Apple is reportedly concerned about privacy risks. The concept could help power more AI features and even support future products, like Apple’s long-rumored smart glasses. But it also raises obvious questions: would people be comfortable wearing earbuds that might see the world around them?
If your mustard seems to have a little more bite these days, blame climate change. Researchers say hotter, drier conditions across the Canadian Prairies have increased levels of glucosinolates, the natural compounds that give mustard its spicy kick. Monitoring of mustard crops in Saskatchewan and Alberta shows those levels have risen since 2020, likely due to heat and drought stress. This could affect the flavor of everything from hot dogs to salad dressings, and manufacturers may eventually need to adjust recipes to keep tastes consistent.

WEIRD NEWS
A
driver in Wisconsin learned the hard way why “road closed” signs
exist, after moving a barricade and driving straight into…freshly
poured concrete. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the
pickup truck became badly stuck at a major highway interchange near
Milwaukee, with its tires nearly swallowed by the wet cement. Photos
and video from the scene show police and construction crews using
heavy machinery to pull the truck free. In a cheeky social media
post, cops said the driver had “cemented their inability to adhere
to signs.” They reminded motorists that barriers are placed for
everyone’s safety – and ignoring them can leave drivers in a very
sticky situation.
