years after rewriting the record books by breaking the world land
speed record for a diesel-powered car, engineering giant JCB is
returning to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah to attempt a new world
land speed record – this time using hydrogen powered digger
engines.
At Bonneville in 2006, Wing Commander Andy Green OBE
– the fastest man on earth at 763.035 mph and the only person to
break the sound barrier on land – drove the JCB Dieselmax car to
its Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) diesel world
land speed record of 350.092 mph, powered by two JCB engines. That
record still stands, and JCB aims to beat it with the lighter, more
powerful JCB Hydromax with a 32-foot car powered by its own hydrogen
engines.

This latest record bid comes ahead of the opening of JCB’s new $500 million factory in San Antonio, Texas. The San Antonio facility will be the second JCB manufacturing facility in the US, joining its North American headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. The San Antonio facility will be a complete manufacturing facility and include all processes from fabrication and welding to paint and assembly. Globally, JCB has 22 manufacturing plants including locations in Brazil, India and the UK.

What makes a workplace team truly successful? A survey of more than 6,000 office and professional workers found that one factor stood out above office perks, work arrangements, and amenities: some peace and quiet. Or more specifically, access to a quiet place for focused work. Members of high-performing teams were 52% more likely to have somewhere they could concentrate without interruptions. Surprisingly, these “superteams” were just as likely to work remotely, in the office, or in hybrid setups. Researchers say the key is protecting uninterrupted focus through dedicated focus blocks, meeting-free days, and systems that reduce unnecessary interruptions. The takeaway: HOW a team works may matter more than WHERE it works.

It’s been 11 years since fans said goodbye to Fox’s hit musical comedy “Glee” – but now, it might be coming back. While speaking about his various upcoming projects, co-creator Ryan Murphy admitted he’s “considering” a Glee reboot. When asked, he said: “It’s something to consider. For many, many people now in their 20s, they grew up on that show, and it meant something to them.” The series ran from 2009-15, and was a cultural phenomenon. Glee received 6 Primetime Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes throughout its run.
“The Odyssey” has cracked the $1 billion mark at the global box office, and Universal is making it known the feature take of Homer’s epic is now director Christopher Nolan‘s highest grossing movie ever, ahead of 2012’s Dark Knight Rises ($1.085B). The Odyssey is currently at $1.1 billion worldwide after 4 weekends, with $461.1M coming from domestic, and $643.6M coming from overseas. Nolan’s movies have now grossed over $7 billion worldwide, including the 7-time Oscar winning “Oppenheimer”, which grossed $976 million.
IKEA is capitalizing on Alexander Skarsgård’s viral “Wicker” movie trailer with a clever ad campaign. Naturally, the Wicker clip features Skarsgård’s character magically made out of, well…the pliable wood material to suit his wife, played by Olivia Coleman. The online frenzy has brought out the most unhinged reactions, especially if you glance at the comments on YouTube.
