You’ve heard of using a “white-noise” machine to help you get to sleep at night – but how about “green noise”? According to sleep experts, green noise is one of the least talked about variations of white noise – but it has seen a 425% search interest increase in the past 5 years. What is green noise? While white noise (like the classic example of a radio tuning) is spread across the sound spectrum, featuring both low and high frequencies, and brown noise focuses on deeper sounds, sleep expert Martin Seeley explains that green noise “is a variation of white noise in the middle of the spectrum. But as its name suggests, many of the sounds are what we would consider nature. Think of it like ocean waves.” Some other examples of green noise are trickling waterfalls, gentle forest soundscapes, or pretty much any nature sound that promotes relaxation. And if you’re struggling with stress in everyday life, green noise is said to help restore a sense of calm. If this sounds like you, try testing out green noise using sleep apps such as SimplyNoise, Rainy Mood and Calm. Use headphones where possible to block out external noises, and experiment with different volumes to find the right level to send you off to sleep. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2y9tk4bz

A Florida man recently won $1 million after a stranger cut in front of him at a lottery ticket machine. Stephen Munoz Espinoza told Florida Lottery officials that he stopped at the Publix supermarket in his hometown of Delray Beach after “a long day,” but didn’t let the line-cutting stranger get to him, and decided to “buy a ticket at the counter instead.” There, he purchased a 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game — and to his surprise, it was a winner.

Kim Kardashian’s daughter North West is heading to the big screen, breaking into the acting game in the same flick her mom has a part in. The 9-year-old has been cast in the upcoming sequel, “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie”, lending her voice alongside Kim, who’s reprising her role as ‘Delores’ from the 2021 film. And Kimmy K and North aren’t the only ones in their family with a part, reportedly, North’s little brother, Saint, will also make a cameo. Others in the voice cast include Kristen Bell, McKenna Grace, James Marsden, and Serena Williams.

Hulk Hogan is without feeling in his lower body, according to a fellow wrestler. The 69-year-old ring legend made a surprise appearance at the 30th anniversary of Raw in Philadelphia last week, but according to Kurt Angle, he is hiding the serious impact of recent back surgery and needs to use a cane due to the loss of sensation. Speaking on his own “Kurt Angle Show” podcast, the former Olympic champion said that during his back surgery, “He had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can’t feel his lower body…He doesn’t have any pain. He has nothing at all. He can’t feel anything.” In 2021, Hulk’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, revealed her dad had undergone 25 surgeries in the last decade.

I could see this being a problem. A powerful new artificial intelligence chatbot tool known as ChatGPT has passed law exams in 4 courses at a university. Since it became available in November, ChatGPT has been used to generate original essays, stories and song lyrics. Users have also had it draft research papers that were able to fool some scientists, and to pass an exam at a prestigious business school. Now, a growing number of educators are expressing concerns about the impact of ChatGPT on students and their ability to cheat on assignments. Some companies are also using the tech, but with varying levels of success. News outlet CNET last week was forced to issue corrections on a number of articles after using a different AI tool to help write stories.

As the ChatGPT craze continues to gather speed, some researchers are warning that artificial intelligence could some day “go rogue”, resulting in an “existential threat to humanity” that might even cause humans to go extinct, and needs to be regulated like nuclear weapons if we are to survive. Michael Cohen, a doctoral student at Oxford, said: “With superhuman AI there is a particular risk that is of a different sort of class, which is . . . it could kill everyone.” His colleague Michael Osborne, who teaches machine learning at the UK university, forecasts that advanced AI could “pose just as much risk to us as we have posed to other species: the dodo is one example.”

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A&W Restaurants announced that its mascot ‘Rooty the Great Root Bear’ will start wearing pants. The post, a joking reference to the recent decision by the makers of M&M’s, which put its “spokescandies” on “indefinite pause” after some in the media complained the green M&M character was now wearing tennis shoes instead of go-go boots. The A&W tweet read, in part: “now we get it — even a mascot’s lack of pants can be polarizing.” But the joke was on them, because Fox Business assumed the announcement was serious and reported on it as yet another sign of “woke police cancel culture” run amok. Eventually, A&W felt obligated to clarify things, tweeting: “Is now a good time to mention this is a joke?”
