An Idaho Falls man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a shooting early last Sunday morning outside the Crown Bar in downtown Idaho Falls. A victim told police that one bullet was fired at him during an incident at around 2:14 a.m. at the bar. Police say the round only struck a vehicle. No other details about the crime were released. In an arrest document, police said Connor Prucnal fled the scene in a silver Honda CRV. Police later pulled him over at a Texaco gas station. The responding police officer wrote that both Prucnal and his passenger “smelt strongly of an alcoholic beverage and appeared inebriated.” Upon searching the car, police said they found a Glock handgun in a backpack with Prucnal’s belongings. Guys, are you having problems with, um, splashback when you’re hitting up a urinal? Have no fear — science figured out the exact, perfect way that you should pee at a urinal to keep things clean. Through high-speed video footage of a simulated male urine stream researchers show that reduced splash can be achieved by moving closer to the urinal and decreasing the impact angle.

A California man just won Father of the Year honors after building his own Disneyland roller coaster. Sean LaRochelle of Napa spent around four months building a scaled-down version of the famed Matterhorn ride. It’s a 2-story, single-passenger roller coaster. Sean’s 400-feet of track includes Swiss flags, waterfalls, and even the ticked off Yeti inside the mountain! Sean’s kid can thank coronavirus for their backyard playground-on-steroids. Disneyland closed in mid-March due to the pandemic, and two weeks later Sean started building the ride. He finished in July. A California man wanted in an alleged $35 million Ponzi scheme tried to flee FBI agents — by hopping on an underwater “sea scooter” and taking it into a frigid lake. First, 44-year-old Matthew Piercey jumped into a pickup truck when agents went to arrest him on Monday, leading them on a wild chase before eventually abandoning the vehicle on the shores of Lake Shasta, according to federal prosecutors in California. He then grabbed a Yamaha sea scooter — a motorized submersible device that pulls users at about 4 mph — and took it into the cold waters, staying there for about twenty-five minutes. He was taken away in handcuffs after resurfacing. Piercey was indicted by a grand jury last week for allegedly bilking his investors into giving $35 million to his companies Family Wealth Legacy and Zolla. (https://bit.ly/3kJGUeM)

One of the two armed suspects who held a family hostage in a Queens, New York home asked cops for a pizza — as the duo was looking for money they believed was stashed there after a former resident recently died of cancer. One of the suspects asked responding cops to let him speak with his wife and then asked for a pizza — but that request was not complied with. The NYPD said shortly after midnight that all hostages had been removed from the home. The duo targeted that home because a 36-year-old man who lived there died of cancer last month — and one of the suspects known to him believed they could find a stash of money there. Charges are pending against the pair.(https://bit.ly/3kPXNEK)

A Florida man has been accused of contributing to the delinquency of his 8-year-old son after deputies say he had the kid tag along with him during a recent series of crimes. When 36-year-old Ernest McKnight III was asked by a detective why he had the child with him he replied, “I was trying to toughen him up. … I don’t want him to be soft,” Brian Bruchey, a spokesman for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. He said the boy was with McKnight last week when deputies say McKnight burglarized three unoccupied dwellings, stole a car, and made off with a package stolen from a porch. The alleged crimes all took place in the City of Lake Wales. An arrest affidavit says McKnight was arrested last Thursday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase after they spotted him in the stolen vehicle, a red Hyundai taken from a road surveyor. The affidavit quotes deputies as saying they clocked McKnight going 120-mph and that only after they caught up with him did they discover he was with a child.(https://fxn.ws/2IJ4QSH)

A defendant who threw two naked women out of his Florida home during a 2:00 a.m. altercation told police that the victims attacked him after he declined to engage in a sexual threesome. Responding to a 9-1-1 call about a disturbance at a Clearwater apartment building, cops interviewed 27-year-old Ciraya Rassasombath and 28-year-old Angelique Pavelec about an encounter with Rassasombath’s husband that allegedly turned violent. Pavelec reportedly went to Rassasombath’s home to “hang out and drink.” While at the apartment, Pavelec said, “they had planned sexual arrangements with her friend’s husband,” 33-year-old Calvin Rassasombath. But before a threesome ensued, a verbal argument began. As the dispute escalated, Calvin allegedly choked both naked women before throwing them out of the residence. After being read his rights, Calvin claimed that the women “wanted to have sex with him but he did not want to,” prompting them to attack him. Police in Wisconsin are stumped over who would steal a tree from the flagship branch of the state university. The University of Wisconsin-Madison has logged its loss at $13,000 or more. A rare, 25-foot Algonquin pillar Swiss mountain pine tree was cut down and stolen from the university’s arboretum property sometime between November 5th and 9th, according to the UW-Madison Police Department. The tree was planted in 1988 about 30 yards from a campus parking lot. The thief or thieves also cut a 12-foot section from the top of another nearby tree, a compact white fir planted in 1981. For some reason, they left that cut section behind. Commenters on the department’s Facebook post were angered and confused by the theft. Authorities believe someone may be able to help them identify whomever was responsible because of the manpower involved in taking down a tree of that size. (https://fxn.ws/2IFluCk)

THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

Our family has a facebook group where we share “family things” and stay informed on what everyone is up to. Last week my youngest sister posted in the group that she wants to skip Christmas presents for one another this year. She lost her job a few months ago. She and her husband are getting buy, but she didn't want the pressure of getting gifts this year. I asked my older sister if she would like to be a secret Santa with me to buy them some things anyway. My older sister told me that was a bad idea, since she specifically said she didn't want that! Should I still get something with no expectations of a gift in return? I think that's what makes the most sense. What do you think?

Signed – Sad Sister

A driver looking to make some quick cash caused quite the spectacle on Interstate 4 through Hillsborough County Monday. Florida Highway Patrol said a driver picked up a downed metal utility pole, strapped it to the roof of his 1997 Toyota Camry, and planned to sell it to a scrapyard. He didn't get too far. Just after 10:00 a.m., FHP got a call from someone who witnessed another driver loading the pole onto his roof on the outside shoulder of I-4 west. The witness followed at a safe distance until a Trooper made a traffic stop. The driver, 71-year-old Douglas Hatley of Lakeland, said he was trying to turn in the pole as scrap metal for cash and that he didn't know it was illegal to remove the pole, even if it was broken or had fallen. Hatley was arrested and taken to the Hillsborough County Jail. He's charged with grand theft. (https://bit.ly/3kHO6IC)

MOMENT OF DUH: Brought to you by TimeForRehab.com

A wanna-be rapper from Brooklyn wasn’t going to lose his shot at blasting a flamethrower from atop a city bus for a guerrilla music video — even though the illicit nighttime stunt put more than two dozen passengers in harm’s way. Streams of fire burst into the air and down the back of the MTA bus in shocking video that emerged on social media. The 57-second clip shows rapper Dupree G.O.D jumping shirtless from the top of an ice cream truck onto a B26 bus at Franklin and Putnam Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He then fires off his hand-held flamethrower, shooting blazing arcs in the air before running to the back of the bus and shooting the flames downward, torching the ground as the bus starts to move. An NYPD spokeswoman said the department was “aware of the video” and is currently conducting an investigation. (https://bit.ly/35HT8jP)
