A man who drove a car into a retention pond is now facing charges. Officers were originally responding to a criminal mischief call at a home in Casselberry. Investigators said Justin Lorrison went to that home asking the woman who lives there for help after he was kicked out by his grandmother. The woman tried to offer the 29-year-old $100 to stay at a nearby hotel, but Lorrison refused twice saying, “Don’t play, I will light your (expletive) house on fire.” Records show the woman went back inside, then looked out the window to see if Lorrison had left. The woman told officers she watched as Lorrison then backed his gold Cadillac into her car, shoving it about a foot, then drove off. While police were speaking with the victim, officers were patrolling the area looking for Lorrison’s car. Records show police spotted the Cadillac but it took off speeding until officers lost sight of it and they did not pursue it. Witnesses told police the car appeared to lose control and ended up in a retention pond. Lorrison reportedly smelled of alcohol and failed a sobriety test. He faces charges of hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and reckless driving. (https://bit.ly/3dhuoTp)

Pringles aren't actually potato chips. The next time you see a can of Pringles, take a closer look—you won't see the word "chip" anywhere on the packaging. That's because Pringles aren't made of thinly-sliced potatoes, but instead dehydrated potato flakes pressed into their signature parabolic shape. That's what makes them less greasy. But when other potato chip manufacturers complained, the Food and Drug Administration ruled that Pringles couldn't be marketed as chips. The company eventually settled on "potato crisp."

Alleged ‘Uber monster’ Arna Kimiai has pleaded not guilty to all charges despite previously admitting to poor conduct in a meandering topless video on her Instagram last month. According to SFist, 24-year-old Arna Kimiai and her friend, 24-year-old Malaysia King, were both arrested and charged last month as the monster riders involved in the much-publicized March 7th assault on Uber driver Subhakar Khadka. A third passenger was present but she has not been identified nor charged. Khadka says he was assaulted by the pair after he requested that they put on a mask to reduce the risk of coronavirus. It ultimately led to the young women becoming belligerent, with video showing Kimiai performatively coughing on Khadka and ripping off his own face mask. Kimiai remains free on bail pending a May 3 hearing. She was arrested about a week after the video went viral on social media, having negotiated a surrender with authorities. A Florida nurse performed a butt injection on a patient while waiting for her virtual court hearing to start. Miami Herald reporter David Ovalle earlier Wednesday tweeted a picture of a man getting a butt injection from a female nurse during the Zoom court hearing. “MIAMI ZOOM COURT: We’ve reached peak 305. Someone appears to be getting a butt injection while appearing in a virtual hearing,” Ovalle wrote in his post, referring to Miami's zip code. “It's my understanding that the defendant was actually the nurse or whoever was giving the injection, which actually makes it a gazillion times more bizarre,” Ovalle said. The Miami Dade state attorney’s office issued a statement saying, “The case was on the court calendar, via Zoom, for a status hearing (also called a sounding). It seems that during the waiting period prior to the case being brought before the judge, Niurka Aguero was involved in some kind of procedure involving a male receiving an injection in the buttocks, which she appears to have inadvertently broadcast.” The Miami-Dade state attorney's office didn’t provide any more information on the defendant. THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

My parents divorced last year. They waited until I graduated and moved out. I'm the youngest of 4 kids. We've always spent Mother's Day at my parents house for with my mom and my dad's mother too. This year I feel pulled in two directions. My dad is throwing a fit because I'm going to be with my mom on Mother's Day. He wants me to be there with him and his mother. I love my grandma dearly, but I think I need to be with my mom for this. It's her first Mother's Day alone. She decided to move, so she's in a small apartment. My dad is in our family home. His new girlfriend now lives there with her youngest daughter. My dad is making me feel guilty for missing out on this when his girlfriend's daughter will be there. Well, she lives there! I'm picking my mom's side for this, but I feel bad. Any advice to help me not feel like a bad granddaughter? Is there a way I can make everyone happy?

Signed – Torn Teen

A drug-runner’s fluffy white cat was caught trying to smuggle narcotics into a prison in Panama. The feline felon was carrying the contraband in a pouch tied around its neck when it was stopped outside the Nueva Esperanza Prison in the province of Colon on Friday, AFP reported. “The animal had a cloth tied around its neck” that contained wrapped packages of white powder, leaves and “vegetable matter,” said Andres Gutierrez, head of the Panama Penitentiary System. The substances were likely cocaine and marijuana, according to another official. Local prosecutors said they had opened an investigation into the use of animals for sneaking illegal substances into the Nueva Esperanza facility, which houses more than 1,700 prisoners. Back in 1875, nearly 18 percent of people examined had a fabella. That number dropped to 11 percent by 1918. However, by 2018, 39 percent of individuals had this mysterious bone.

Police responding to a report of an intruder at a California home broke down the front door and stormed the house to find the suspected burglar was actually the owner's robot vacuum. Yana Sydnor said she and her 2-year-old daughter were sleeping at their Natomas home when she was awakened by a sound she thought was an intruder in her home. “Say about 1:00 a.m., I hear over my meditation music, ‘Boom, boom, boom,’” Sydnor told KOVR-TV. Sydnor said she texted friends to tell them there was a burglar in her home. “I was like, ‘Hey, someone is in my house,’ and they were like, ‘Call the police.’ I was like, ‘Oh yeah, yeah, call the police.’” Sydnor called 9-1-1 and hid in the bathroom with her daughter. She said she heard police break down her front door moments later, followed by the sound of laughter. The police discovered the suspected intruder was the family's robot vacuum. “My son turned on the vacuum cleaner because he didn’t want to do chores before he left for the weekend. Despite the pandemic and regulations regarding PPE, nobody in the video is seen wearing a mask. In the videos, the men are seen dancing with the woman, grabbing and suckling her breasts, drinking and pouring vodka on her, lying down while she dances on top of them, and performing cunnilingus on her. The $0 Blockbuster
Perhaps no image captures the preposterousness of the last year for movie theaters than the box office chart for June 10, 2020. On that day, a Wednesday, a movie called Unsubscribe topped the US charts with $25,488 in gross earnings, beating out several other movies that were shown at drive-ins.

Like dogecoin, Unsubscribe started out as a joke and eventually became a real thing. When theaters were shut down last spring, two former BuzzFeed employees, filmmaker Christian Nilsson and YouTuber Eric Tabach, looked at the box office charts and saw movies were making the leaderboard with miniscule ticket sales—$9,000 here, $15,000 there.

"Nothing big was coming out. Blockbuster films were on hold. I wanted to find a way to get the biggest number," Tabach told the BBC.

Look...if you had one shot...or one opportunity….

With Christopher Nolan and Michael Bay mostly out of the picture because of the pandemic, Nilsson and Tabach devised a plan to conquer the box office. They shot the 30-minute horror movie on Zoom with an official budget of $0.

Then, for the movie to actually generate ticket sales, they rented out a local movie theater, the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Long Island, in a process known as "four-walling." Four-walling is essentially the self-publishing of the film world—you pay to rent out a theater but get to keep all the proceeds yourself.

No one attended the movie besides Nilsson and Tabach, but after three screenings of Unsubscribe, they managed to pay enough money to themselves for the movie to top the box office.

A group of Italian government officials are under investigation for feasting on a lunch of wild songbirds — including some that were a rare species. Carabinieri officers busted the lavish meal, which also defied COVID-19 guidelines, and found the illegally hunted creatures on the menu. The banquet secretly held in a government building near the city of Brescia included rare tiny birds such as hawfinches and red crossbills. Chaffinches, goldfinches, siskins and bramblings were also ready to be devoured. Around 20 public officials from the villages of Valle Trompia and Gardone Val Trompia had been in attendance at the lunch, the outlet reported. In addition to possibly breaking wildlife protection and hunting laws, the group is being investigated for violating coronavirus lockdown rules, which prohibit gatherings of more than a few people. He is accused of stealing a different victim’s identity and using it to purchase a vehicle for more than $20,000. A Florida woman is behind bars after investigators say she broke into an Interlachen home where three children were sleeping and helped herself to coffee and eggs. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that deputies were called to the home on Saturday morning after the homeowner said a woman broke into her house and was drinking coffee. The homeowner had gone to work that morning, leaving her three children age 16, 10 and 7 asleep. When the 16-year-old woke up, she called her mom around 9:00 a.m. and told her there was a woman in the kitchen. The homeowner returned from work and found Wendy Kaufman inside the home “actively drinking coffee.” She had also made herself eggs for breakfast. The homeowner told Kaufman to leave, and she told the woman she would not go “without her daughters,” referring to the children in the home. However, Kaufman has no family connection to the homeowner. Kaufman went outside and waited on the porch for deputies to arrive. She was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling.
