Dramatic video captured a melee that erupted at Puerto Rico’s international airport in San Juan after a drunken woman refused to get off a Philadelphia-bound plane. The chaotic incident took place Monday at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, where the woman refused to disembark at the crew’s request. Meanwhile, another passenger became ill around the same time – setting the stage for the ensuing bedlam after the captain canceled the flight by invoking a Coronavirus policy that allows such action for an illness. Footage shared by passenger Jorge Luis Vargas captures the pilot’s poorly received announcement. In a second video, a crowd of people is seen assaulting a woman inside the terminal. Two women involved refused medical attention, the Police were called, and arrests were made. (https://bit.ly/3hrSJVO)

A South Carolina man who was recorded walking around a Walmart “coughing on food items and general merchandise” has been arrested on a pair of felony charges. 39-year-old Kyle Arendell was busted yesterday for aggravated breach of peace and malicious injury to property in connection with a disturbance at Walmart. As seen in a video recorded by a fellow shopper, Arendell--who is not wearing a protective mask--deliberately coughs on a variety of items as he pushes a blue cart across the store. Hacking loudly, Arendell “did intentionally cause a scene.” While court records do not reveal why Arendell went on the coughing rampage, he allegedly claimed he “could or did have COVID-19.” Arendell is locked up in the county jail in lieu of $6,000 bond. In light of Arendell’s conduct, cops say, Walmart had to destroy merchandise because they could not sell the “infected, damaged items.” (https://bit.ly/32R1O6D)

THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

I've heard the phrase good fences make good neighbors. So do bad fences make bad neighbors? I think the answer may be yes. Our neighbor's fence is pretty old. It's starting to fall apart and when I'm mowing I have to constantly move the fallen boards. If they would fall on their side of the fence, I wouldn't mind, but they are always falling our way because of the way the fence was build about thirty years ago. I talked to the neighbor about the fence last year. He said he was going to have it removed or replaced. I've never seen anyone even come look at it. I wanted to ask him about it again but my wife told me to leave him alone. What do I do? I have a stack of fallen boards laying next to his fence and the pile is getting higher. Should I say something or just keep avoiding the problem?

Signed – FenceFoe

Police allege that a Michigan woman who wanted her ex-husband murdered tried to hire a killer via the farcical web site “rentahitman.com.” According to investigators, 51-year-old Wendy Wein filled out a “service request form” on the site this month. The site describes itself as “your point & click” solution and boasts of “17,985 U.S. Based Field Operatives.” Site visitors are assured that Rent-A-Hitman is compliant with provisions of the 1964 Hitman Information Privacy & Protection Act (HIPPA). A recent update on Rent-A-Hitman noted that, “We are still open during the COVID-19 pandemic,” though “our Wuhan offices will be working on a reduced schedule.” The form Wein submitted to the web site identified her former spouse as the intended victim. This prompted Rent-A-Hitman’s operator to contact the Michigan State Police since it appeared Wein was serious about soliciting a murder. Wein was subsequently arrested and charged with murder solicitation and using a computer to commit a crime. (https://bit.ly/2WJ9FiQ)

A 12-year-old Delaware boy stole a pickup truck at a convenience store and led cops on a high-speed pursuit before crashing into a guardrail. The boy, whose name was not released, stole a red 2003 Ford Ranger Saturday after a 41-year-old man left his unlocked truck running in a parking lot at a Wawa in New Castle. The man — who went inside to use an ATM — spotted the boy driving off with his ride as he exited the store. The stolen truck was later located in a parking lot behind a nearby motel, where troopers tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the boy refused to pull over and drove off. Troopers pursued the truck for about two miles from where it was stolen before the boy lost control of the vehicle. The boy hopped out of the truck and was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. He was arraigned on charges including theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and driving without a valid license. (https://bit.ly/30D5aHx)

Florida police are trying to identify the woman who Sunday afternoon tried to push a shopping cart containing the massive TV out of a store (in Mulberry). When the woman bypassed the checkout lines and headed for the door, Walmart security stopped her and asked to see a receipt. The woman could not produce evidence that she had paid for the merchandise. At this point, the woman’s accomplice took the smaller items from the cart and placed them in her car. The duo then fled in the vehicle, leaving the $450 TV behind.

A 51-year-old Michigan woman was allegedly looking for a way to have her husband killed and just happened to enter her information into RentAHitman.com and requested a consultation on the matter. The website owner contacted police.

A boozy night of partying with seven dudes left one Brit with a whole lot more than king-size hangover. She woke up with seven tattoos on her thigh, too — and it was her idea. 22-year-old Megan Gerrard and six girlfriends had gone on a getaway a couple of years ago to the Spanish island of Magaluf when they met seven guys who hailed from the U.K. The fourteen went to the bars every night. On their last night, as the group passed a tattoo parlor, Gerrard jokingly volunteered to get everyone’s initials tattooed on her thigh to honor their chance meeting. “The boys dared me to,” said Gerrard, who has other tats. “My friends were begging me not to, but I was determined to get it done.” But, when Gerrard went back home, she discovered — on social media — that a few of the men had given fake initials. The women stayed in touch with the men for about four months — until their girlfriends found out. Today, Gerrard has a new tattoo to cover up her dare. (https://bit.ly/3fJXHgh)

A Florida man was injured in a bicycle crash with an iguana. Don’t worry — the injuries weren’t life-threatening, at least for the 62-year-old bicyclist. The man was riding on a path July 10th in Marathon, in the Keys, when the iguana darted in front of him. Keys residents are in a “constant battle” with the lizards, said Adam Linhardt, spokesman for the sheriff. “They’re just everywhere. Cars hit them a lot on the highway.” They can grow up to five feet long and have been known to fall from trees in cool weather. The sheriff’s office said this one got stuck between the front tire and the wheel fork. It caused the front tire to lock up, and the rider tumbled over the handlebars and onto the asphalt. The bicyclist was taken to Fishermen’s Hospital and given stitches to his head. He also had scrapes on his arms and a leg. (https://bit.ly/32DErxm)

A Florida woman has been charged with grand theft after she was allegedly caught on camera stealing orchids. 34-year-old Katrina Marie Brady was arrested by Coral Gables police for “stealing orchids that residents had placed on trees growing in the swale” in a residential neighborhood in the city, about five miles west of Miami. Brady was caught on camera when she allegedly stole about $4,000 worth of the floral beauties from trees in the Country Club Prado neighborhood, first on June 4th and again on June 19th. The flowers had been part of the neighborhood’s Orchid Project, which artist Ray Corral and Alina Meledina started about two or three years ago. Brady’s alleged crime isn’t the first-time orchid thievery has made headlines. Back in 1994, horticulturist John Laroche and some members of the Seminole Tribe were arrested for poaching rare orchids from the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve.(https://bit.ly/2E3p4UD)
