It doesn’t necessarily have to be 5PM to crack open a beer, according to some Americans. Data from a survey (by YouGov) shows roughly one in six (16%) adults consider noon the earliest acceptable time of day to have an alcoholic drink on non-working days. One in 10 (10%) say 5PM. Roughly one in eight (13%) say 6PM or later is the earliest acceptable time, while nine percent of Americans say it’s fine to grab a libation before 10AM. Men (13%) are more likely than women (7%) to say 10AM or earlier is appropriate to raise a glass. Young Americans age 25-30 (17%) are also fine with morning drinks before 10AM.

A study (Harvard University) found that, when domestic differences arise, it’s usually the spouse who does the most talking who gets his or her way.

Curious about where the average street dealer safely stores their stash? Wonder no more! A Florida Man whose rap sheet includes more than a dozen drug convictions was arrested last month after jailers discovered four “crystal rocks” of methamphetamine stored inside the defendant’s “penis skin.” 30-year-old Shaft Bang Adams was collared in mid-May for driving with a suspended or revoked license and booked into the Orange County jail on the misdemeanor count. Adams, an Orlando resident, was familiar with the lockup owing to his 20-plus prior convictions for offenses like domestic assault; battery; possession of a controlled substance; delivery of cocaine; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; false imprisonment; and possession of drug paraphernalia. During the jail intake process, Adams was subjected to a strip search during which a correctional officer reported finding “4 crystal rocks white in color inside the ‘penis skin’ of Mr. Adams.” A subsequent field test of the rocks “tested positive for Methamphetamine.” Adams was charged with possession of meth and introducing contraband into a penal institution, both felonies. He spent eight days in custody before posting $2000 bond. Adams is back behind bars following his arrest yesterday on cocaine possession and resisting charges.(https://bit.ly/2U4ezsg)

A Punta Gorda woman is facing a charge of arson after being accused of setting a laundry basket full of her own clothes on fire in December 2020. 30-year-old Elizabeth LaFleur was arrested Sunday following an investigation into a fire that was set at a home in Punta Gorda. According to court documents, fire crews responded to reports of a house fire on December 20, 2020, and found the fire had started in a white plastic laundry basket full of clothing. A neighbor told fire crews LaFleur came to her home and admitted to setting her mother’s house on fire. Neighbors told responders they rushed to douse the flames with water and dragged the smoldering clothes basket outside. Investigators said the clothes had been doused in lighter fluid and lit on fire. The 30-year-old reportedly grabbed the mother’s pet bird and ran into the woods when fire crews arrived. The basket of clothes was extinguished and a nearby gas can and lighter fluid container were removed from the home by a neighbor. LaFleur is facing a charge of arson to a dwelling. An e-scooter rider was filmed trying to join a busy motorway in Bradford. The man can be seen travelling at around 15-mph while contending for a space on the busy carriageway on the M606. Traffic cops captured the incredible moment and then posted the clip on social media. Luckily the officers, from West Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, were able to apprehend the man before he joined the busy lane. They seized his scooter and filed a report about the rider, while reminding that privately-owned e-scooters cannot legally be used on a public road or pavement. Posting on Twitter, the traffic cops said: “Officers on patrol were shocked to see this E-Scooter on the chevrons trying to join a live motorway lane with 70-mph traffic. Scooter seized and rider reported.” It is illegal to ride e-scooters on pavements, roads, cycle lanes or footpaths in the UK and those caught face a £300 fine and points on their driver’s license.(https://bit.ly/3zJh3MU)

There's a world record—and a happy ending—for the greatest distance thrown in a car accident. This is one world record you may not want to try and top. A car traveling 70 miles per hour struck Matthew McKnight, an off-duty paramedic, when he stopped to help out with an accident on the side of an interstate in 2001. He was thrown 118 feet, almost half a football field. Eric Brader, his emergency room physician, told McKnight he should send it into the Guinness Book of World Records, but McKnight brushed it off as a joke. Brader was so impressed by the feat that he sent in the paperwork anyways, which was approved in 2003, but didn't make the cut until its 2008 edition.

Reports say that a dispute over a parking space led a man to hit another man in the head with a baseball bat. 34-year-old Randy Cruz was booked into the Mahoning County jail on a charge of felonious assault. Records from Mahoning County Area Court in Austintown show Cruz was arraigned and has a preliminary hearing set, but the records do not indicate if any bond was set in the case. Cruz was arrested after police were called about 7:10 p.m. to an apartment complex in for a report of a fight with a baseball bat. When officers arrived, the victim came up to them and said he was hit with a bat, and another witness gave police a bat that had blood on it. Cruz was taken into custody at a nearby apartment and said he was the one who was attacked. He had several cuts on his head, reports said, which he was treated for at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Austintown before he was booked into the jail. Several witnesses told police Cruz and the victim had argued earlier in the day over a parking space. As the victim was cooking on a grill, the witnesses said Cruz pulled up in a car, got out of the car carrying a bat, and hit the victim in the head. The pair fell to the ground and struggled over the bat, and two witnesses tried to break the fight up. (https://bit.ly/3iXHVmh)

Newly released video footage shows a man accidentally shooting himself in the face at an Ohio gun range. Sheriff Scott Hildenbrand says the man is very lucky he was not seriously injured and did not hurt anyone else. The man is expected to be OK. The sheriff added that after reviewing the video, he felt it was important to talk about gun safety and training. “The video shows that he is shooting a 9mm automatic and when he shot, he ejected the shell and it went right down the back of his shirt. So, because that’s hot … he started to move around and his other hand just came and the gun discharged and (the bullet) went through his cheek and out the top part of his other cheek,” the Geauga County sheriff said. The shooting was ruled accidental and the man will not face charges. The sheriff, however, hopes the man will get some additional training. (https://bit.ly/3cZ5U0G)

First written in 1838, the Constitution of the state of Florida guarantees the right to privacy, the freedom of speech, and the right of pregnant pigs to be free from cages. Unlike many crazy or outdated laws, this amendment is recent (passed in 2002) and comes from a well-meaning place: the prevention of cruelty to animals. During pregnancy, a pig must not be caged or even tethered such that it can't turn around freely.

While working her job at Starbucks, the daughter of Miami Gardens’ police chief was allegedly threatened with a gun over an order mix-up — the gunman was given his bagel without cream cheese. Chief Delma Noel-Pratt said that the experience traumatized her 23-year-old daughter. Police say Noel-Pratt’s daughter was working her shift at the Starbucks when the altercation occurred. According to an arrest report, 38-year-old Omar Wright used the drive-thru to order a bagel and pulled ahead after receiving his purchase. As the next customer was being attended to, Wright walked back to the window yelling and screaming about not getting cream cheese on his bagel like he asked. Police say when Noel-Pratt’s daughter tried to help Wright, he told her, “Where is my cream cheese?” She told him to calm down and asked if he had paid for it, which made Wright “very upset.” Police say Wright pulled out a black handgun, held it in the air and told her “I hate b------ like you and you don’t know who your f------ with, I’m from Carol City.” After Wright was given his cream cheese, police say he got in his car and left. License, registration and... a beer? A Texas man literally asked a game warden who pulled him over for driving erratically to hold his beer. KWTX reports that an unidentified motorist who was picked-up earlier this month for driving while intoxicated gave one of the two arresting officers his adult beverage to hold in the Lake Waco area. The traffic stop reportedly occurred when a man in a truck driving on the wrong side of the road cut the officers off, then got back into the right lane and waved for Texas Police and Wildlife Patrol wardens to go around him. That didn’t work. “During the traffic stop, the wardens noticed the driver was unable to turn down the music on his radio.” The driver allegedly struggled to tell officers what he’d been doing, “then picked up his beer and handed it to the wardens.” His speech was slurred and his coordination was said to have been compromised. A sobriety test reportedly confirmed the motorist was intoxicated. The Houston Chronicle reports the man was arrested.(https://bit.ly/3xwDq6n)

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A brotherly “argument over some chicken” turned violent Monday evening when a Florida man allegedly threw a knife at his sibling, according to cops who say the airborne weapon “got stuck in the victim’s right leg.” 19-year-old Messiah Harris-Smith is facing a felony aggravated battery charge in connection with the June 14th incident at his family’s St. Petersburg residence. The victim, who told police he did not want his brother prosecuted, will “need to receive stitches,” according to an arrest affidavit which does not further describe the chicken argument. Harris-Smith, who has pleaded not guilty, was released last night from the county jail on his own recognizance. Harris-Smith was arrested earlier this year for allegedly pushing and threatening to kill his mother during an argument in their home. Prosecutors subsequently decided not to pursue a misdemeanor domestic battery case against the 6’ 1”, 250-pound teenager.  https://bit.ly/35u44R8

MOMENT OF DUH: Brought to you by RadioSavings.com

A Florida Woman is facing a domestic battery charge after allegedly pelting her boyfriend in the face and chest with a plate of chicken. Investigators charge that 43-year-old Jennifer Booth struck the 56-year-old victim with the chicken while the couple was eating last Wednesday night on the porch of their Bradenton home. Booth’s companion, who cooked dinner, was not injured by the poultry fusillade. He told police that Booth “became violent” during a verbal argument and “picked up the paper plate of chicken and threw it in my face.” After the man called 9-1-1, Booth was arrested and booked into the Manatee County jail on the misdemeanor rap. She was released Friday on $500 bond. Booth has three prior arrests, “most recently 2015 Domestic Violence,” according to a court filing. While Booth and the victim share a surname, a pretrial services report lists her marital status as “single,” while an arrest report identifies the victim as her boyfriend. Booth is an avid hunter whose Facebook page is stocked with pictures of her posing with animals she has shot dead, images that have prompted online derision.(https://bit.ly/35u44R8)
