A study has found that nearly a third (28%) of dog owners believe they can immediately pick up on their pet’s different moods. The survey of 2,000 dog owners found that the top sign that lets a pet parent know their dog is happy is when it wags its tail (big surprise there…), followed by when their furry friend jumps on them, or shows affection with cuddles or kisses. What about when Rover is sad? The top signs are loss of appetite, low energy, or whining or crying.

Fish can recognize themselves in photos, according to Japanese researchers. Scientists at Osaka Metropolitan University say this marks the first time ever this has been observed in any vertebrate (species with a backbone), humans aside. And they point out that the most influential determining factor was not the fish seeing their own body — but seeing their face. And what’s more, when fish were shown pics of themselves with an imperfection superimposed on their face, most made aggressive efforts to “rub it off”. The team says this study is the first to demonstrate that fish have a “sense of self”.

Maximum Effort, the production and advertising company he co-founded with his business partner George Dewey, is part of an ownership group creating a 1.2 million-square-foot studio in Markham, Ontario. Construction is scheduled to begin shortly on the new studio. The news of Reynolds’ latest investment comes after a report stating that Reynolds is planning a proposal to purchase the Ottawa Senators NHL team.

Intervention” star Ken Seeley is urging those in Britney Spears’ inner circle to get on the same page and get her some help — saying if she continues to spiral, it could cost her life. He’s sharing his concerns for Spears after someone called off a planned intervention for her. He said those closest to her wanted her to get help for mental health struggles and substance abuse, but someone pulled the plug. Now, some fans and people close to her are becoming increasingly alarmed, especially since she posted a video this week speaking in an Aussie accent while running around yelling, “Never be a rollercoaster!”

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

A report says that global warming could be drastically slowed if we all worked less.

A restaurant in Tinton Falls NJ recently divided social media by announcing it will no longer be welcoming diners under 10 years old, beginning next month. Nettie’s House of Spaghetti detailed its plan in a Facebook post, saying that although “We love kids…Between noise levels, lack of space for high chairs, cleaning up crazy messes, and the liability of kids running around the restaurant, we have decided that it’s time to take control of the situation.” The social media post has been shared more than 10,000 times, and stirred quite an outcry from locals. But some were also supportive of the decision. One commenter wrote: “They need to change their name to something more pretentious, like…’Il Bistro di Netti.’ People were bringing kids because it’s named like a family place.”

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

Swedish design company Mo’cycle has crafted a pair of inflatable denim trousers to protect bikers from injury in case of a spill. A CO2 cartridge installed inside the jeans releases the gas as the motorcyclist topples off the bike during a mishap. Marketed as the “world’s first” inflatable jean, Mo’cycle’s pants are made from abrasion-resistant and water-repellent fabric, yet feel like real denim. Before the airbag deploys, the trousers look like any other pair of pants. But if an accident occurs, the jeans inflate within “milliseconds.” The inflatable jeans will retail for $499 when they become available for order later this month.
