Show Notes for Monday, April 03, 2023

This #MovieStarMonday we visit with TWO awesome actors. Jeremy Jordan and Jay Pharoah will tell us about the new film (in theaters now) SPINNING GOLD.

What do Donna Summer, Parliament, Gladys Knight, The Isley Brothers, The Village People, and Bill Withers all have in common with the rock band KISS? They all rose to their musical heights under the watchful ear of the music industry's most colorful and brilliant music producer, Neil Bogart, founder of Casablanca Records, the most successful independent record company of all time. Along with a ragtag team of young music lovers, Neil and Casablanca Records would rewrite history and change the music industry forever.

Their mix of creative insanity, a total belief in each other and the music they were creating, shaped our culture and ultimately defined a generation. In a story so unbelievable that it can only be true, comes the motion picture event of the musical journey of Neil Bogart and how his Casablanca Records created the greatest soundtrack of our lives.

Three cups of coffee a day could curb obesity and prevent diabetes. Scientists in Sweden say that calorie-free caffeinated drinks should be a major target of investigation when it comes to tackling weight gain and the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Their study shows the greatest benefit appears among those with a genetic predisposition to metabolize caffeine much slower than others, leaving more of the substance in their blood. Previous research has shown that the stimulant boosts metabolism, increases fat burning, and reduces appetite.

Polish pilot Lukasz Czepiela made aviation history recently, when he became the first person to land a plane on the helipad of the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel in Dubai. He was able to bring his specially adapted aircraft to a stop in just 21 meters (68 feet), landing on a platform only 27 meters (89 feet) wide, 212 meters (696 feet) above the ground on top of the 56-story building. The stunt had been in the works since 2021 and required 650 test landings, according to sponsor Red Bull. LINK:

Dana Carvey is down for “Wayne’s World 3” if Mike Myers is. While attending last weekend’s “Mark Twain Prize” gala honouring Adam Sandler in Washington, he was asked if a third film in the series might finally be on the horizon. His answer: “Yes, it is. I don’t know. Maybe we’ll do it in puppets. I’m not sure.” He continued: “I’m always game. Love Mike Myers. Just a brilliant guy.” Last month, Carvey had fans speculating about a possible “Wayne’s World 3”, after he shared a photo of him and Myers in costume and in a recreation of the classic basement set.

Jonathan Majors, who stars in “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” was arrested on Saturday in New York City, and accused of domestic dispute. According to police, the victim, who was not identified, “sustained minor injuries to her head and neck” and is in stable condition in hospital. A police statement says a 911 call was made, and officers responded at an apartment. They determined that “a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30 year-old female. The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident.” Majors has since denied any wrongdoing.

There’s magic in the air for Daniel Radcliffe. The “Harry Potter” star and girlfriend Erin Darke are expecting their first child together, his rep has confirmed. The news comes as the pair, who have been dating for over a decade, were recently photographed in New York, where Darke’s baby bump could be seen underneath her black hoodie.

Heinz is adding some spirit to mealtimes — by launching a creamy pasta sauce — with a shot of vodka. Scientists at the food giant teamed up with Absolut to create jars of tomato, basil, cheese and vodka, available now at UK supermarkets. They took their inspiration from supermodel Gigi Hadid, who posted a recipe for her favourite spicy pasta sauce to her followers in 2020, which soon became one of the trendiest recipes on TikTok and Instagram. Chefs say vodka “unlocks the flavors” and intensifies the aroma of tomato, basil and cheese sauce.
