A new report from Microsoft says that employees spend more time on emails, meetings and chats than doing the rest of their jobs. The company found that those functions are the #1 distraction for workers – and this type of communication takes up more than half of workers’ time. The info came from a survey of workers in various industries around the world, as well as usage data collected from the company’s apps, such as Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The report says the constant influx of data, emails, meetings and notifications has outpaced our ability to process that information – and there are 3 times as many meetings and calls per week than there were just 3 years ago. Nearly two-thirds of workers feel they have trouble maintaining the time and energy needed to do their jobs. Microsoft calls the idea that employees can’t keep up with emails, meetings and chats “digital debt.” The report says people spend more time trying “to get out of the red” and get caught up on communication than actually doing their jobs.

If the sound of others chewing REALLY irritates you, you may suffer from misphonia. Researchers at Oxford say up to 1 in 5 adults suffer from the condition, in which one becomes angry at the sound of people making minor noises such as chewing or breathing. People with misophonia have strong negative reactions when hearing certain other common sounds, like sniffing, slurping or yawning. The sounds create a fight-or-flight response that triggers anger…and a desire to escape.

BIG SCREEN-LITTLE SCREEN:

It’s been nearly 2 decades since Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis swapped bodies in the beloved Disney classic “Freaky Friday” — and now fans have a reason to celebrate. Disney has confirmed that a sequel is officially “in development, with Elyse Hollander writing the screenplay, and Curtis and Lohan in talks to return.” Freaky Friday was a box-office smash upon its release 20 years ago, grossing over $160 million against a $26 million budget, with many critics raving about the on-screen chemistry shared between Curtis and Lohan. Curtis has very publicly lobbied for a sequel over the past several years.

CBS is supersizing 2 of its signature reality franchises: “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race” will permanently expand to 90-minute episodes next season, the network has announced. But keep in mind: there’s a caveat to it all: The writers strike means it’s very likely that primetime won’t look at all like this come September. But CBS says it already has contingency plans in place, including several unscripted series waiting in the wings.

Dolph Lundgren says he’s been battling cancer for 8 years. Revealing his diagnosis for the first time, the Swedish actor opened up about his fight with cancerous tumors on his kidney and liver on “In Depth With Graham Bensinger,” revealing he was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015. The “Rocky IV” villain says he eventually went into remission, but the cancer came back in 2020, when a doctor gave him a terminal diagnosis, telling him he only had 2-3 years to live. The “Aquaman” star says he went for a second opinion, and subsequent treatments are making his tumors shrink.

The Nanny” reunion may still be happening…after the writer’s strike, according to series star and SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher. In an interview, she also teased that the possible November special could “maybe” become something bigger. She said that once the strike ends, “we’ll be able to go back to figuring out what we want to do for a ‘Nanny’ kind of reunion, maybe backdoor pilot.” Nov. 3 will mark the 30th anniversary of the CBS comedy.

A recent survey revealed the top worries women have about their appearance. They include: hair loss, sagging skin, and waist size.

This was recently posted by “A Barking Chance Animal Rescue” in Albuquerque NM. It definitely struck a nerve, garnering 8,000 comments and over 134,000 shares. Whether you have pets or not, we think you’ll get something out of this… “Two beers and a Puppy” is a test that I developed while working on an Esquire story…The test is: In order to find out how you actually feel about someone, ask yourself, “Would I have2 beers with this person?” And: “Would I allow this person to look after my puppy over a weekend?” Some people are no and no. These people are to be avoided at all costs. Some people are yes and no. These people are to be cautiously trusted. Some people are no and yes. These people are no fun but they make the world a better place – for puppies, especially. And some people are yes and yes. These people are wonderful people and your life and work are better for having them in your life. Seek them out. Collaborate with them. Enjoy their company.” LINK: https://www.facebook.com/Abcdogrescue/

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

As you know, Blockbuster Video is now nothing but a memory…except for those in Bend, Oregon. For the most part, at least. Toronto’s Travis MacLachlan, a movie lover with a substantial DVD collection, has taken it upon himself to breathe new life into the once-mighty video distributor. Building upon the idea of neighborhood libraries used to swap books on community front lawns, Travis decided to apply the same concept to his video collection. He decided to move forward when he came across “Free Blockbuster”, a grassroots mission to “combat the myth of scarcity by providing free entertainment to as many people as possible.” That’s a movement, launched in 2018 by a former Blockbuster employee, who created a movie swap system in an abandoned LA Times newspaper dispenser. The idea spread across the US, and made its way to Canada in 2021. MacLachlan put up a royal blue box on his front lawn last week, officially launching the first Ontario Free Blockbuster location. He acquired a “rusty old bin” from a magazine company, fixed it up, and stocked it with about 10 DVDs “to start” on his front lawn, which quickly dwindled to just 4. He says he just hopes “people watch it and either bring it back or put some of their own out there.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3y9hvebj
