Scientists say they may have discovered the secret to a healthy heart – and Yay! It’s not running. New research published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, finds that gardening is associated with several better health outcomes, including lower odds of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The study of over 145,000 US seniors also found that regular gardening can reduce risk of depression and anxiety. Gardeners spent more time staying physically active compared to exercisers, and were able to meet the recommended 150 minutes of aerobic activity per week with just gardening alone.

Kelly Clarkson is opening up about why she’s relocating her talk show to New York City after 4 seasons in LA. She was interviewed by Nancy O’Dell for “TalkShopLive”, where she said the decision was “100%” her idea, and she told the staff about her decision in January. Clarkson pointed out that for personal reasons, she needed to be on the East Coast, because her family is based in North Carolina, and “Covid, pointed out [that] being isolated and so far from your family… that’s not good for anyone.” Clarkson went on to explain that she felt her kids also “really needed a fresh start”, “and it was really cool” that NBC backed her, because, as she put it, “‘Y’all, I love doing this show.”

Disney has another hit remake on its hands, as “The Little Mermaid” scored a Memorial Day weekend opening of $95.5 million over 3-days, and an estimated 4-day North American haul of $118 million. That puts it on course to net the 4th highest Memorial Day weekend opening in box office history, behind only last year’s “Top Gun: Maverick” ($160 million), Disney’s 2007 film “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” ($139 million), and the “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” ($127 million) in 2008.

Rebel Wilson says she has auditioned for a part in the next ‘James Bond’ movie. During an interview at Cannes — where the “Pitch Perfect” alum is premiering her directorial debut, “The Deb” — she revealed that she was invited to audition after Bond producers saw her host last year’s BAFTAs. She did not specify for what role she was trying out, but she did say it wasn’t for ‘007’. At the BAFTAs, she made a few Bond jokes, including serving up her own pitch for a new storyline, where “Bond goes to Australia and it can be called ‘Die Another G’Day’.”

In a report, doctors claim that sitting too much is bad for your health.

In a groundbreaking development, scientists have achieved a remarkable feat in battery technology, bringing us closer to one day being able to charge our smartphones in a mere 60 seconds. This innovation, pioneered by a team from Stanford University, introduces a newly-developed battery made of aluminum that not only addresses safety concerns but also surpasses its predecessors in terms of longevity and efficiency, and is able to withstand 7,500 recharges without failure. There are environmental benefits as well, as the new battery could replace alkaline batteries, which are harmful to the environment, and lithium-ion batteries, which occasionally burst into flames.

A popular dog park in Montreal has outlawed dogs from barking, and owners could be fined up to (CAD) $2,000. Locals were shocked to see the sign informing them that their pets were not allowed to bark, and owners of yappy pups could be looking at a $500-$2,000 fine. A spokesperson for the town council in the borough of Saint-Leonard said: “This sign was intended to help reduce the nuisance experienced by the neighbourhood of this dog park.” Of course, the internet went wild, with one user writing: “City of Montreal figures out dogs bark.”

THE LIST: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

A Reddit user asked the question: “What lesson took you the longest to unlearn?” Here are some of the best answers. Do any of these sound familiar?

✓ “Just because someone is nice doesn’t mean they have the best intentions for you.”

✓ “When you fail at something, you are not a failure. Our worth is not defined by our achievements or our productivity.”

✓ “(That) Time means nothing when it comes to friendships. People change, and sometimes, they’re only meant to be there at a certain point in your life.”

✓ “That it was rude to tell people when they’d hurt my feelings, instead of just letting it go. I was always taught that it was easier to just be the bigger person and not make things worse.”

✓ “The idea that I always had to please others and put their needs before my own.”

✓ “Working extra hours without compensation. (It’s a) this toxic mentality. Your boss won’t like you more; they’ll treat you like a doormat, and they’ll add more to your plate.” (See previous point…)

✓ “’Make a schedule and follow it.’ Sure, it works for some people, and it can be very nice. I struggle with anxiety and depression, so making a schedule just stresses me out.”

✓ “Not everyone is going to like me. I have to like myself.”

✓ “Not working on something or toward something means you’re lazy. Nope, I can be happy with where my life is at and just take things day by day.”

✓ “I don’t have to be a size zero to be or feel beautiful. All my life I got the messages that if I lose weight, I’ll finally be beautiful. I’m beautiful now.”
