Ohio State University researchers say they have discovered the cure to dreaded ‘garlic-breath’. After a recent series of tests, the Buckeye school announced that “Whole milk plain yogurt prevented almost all of the volatile compounds responsible for garlic’s pungent scent from escaping into the air.” They found that yogurt alone “reduced 99% of the odor-producing raw garlic volatiles.” They say that their discovery could lead to a better understanding of certain foods that double as combatants of clove odor.

If
you have ever “borrowed” a shopping cart, you’re part of a
global $800million problem, says the Food Marketing Institute in
Washington, DC. A news story out of New York state a few years ago
noted that a typical grocery store can lose $10,000 a year due to
stolen shopping carts. And, in the summer of 2021, a Safeway in San
Francisco reported that it lost 160 carts in a single month — more
than 5 per day. Now, customers there must ask a store employee for
assistance if they want to push their cart outside the store. A
single cart can easily cost retailers $300 (in Canada).

A trailer has dropped for Netflix’s “Squid Game” reality series, which launches November 22. The clip for “Squid Game: The Challenge” shows the 456 contestants competing in a range of games inspired by the hit Korean show – Netflix’s most-watched of all time. Contestants will compete in challenges that were in the show plus “surprising new additions,” with dozens eliminated as the game progresses. The colossal $4.56M prize package is far and away the highest ever for a competition show. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/buhhm6nb
“Expend4bles” didn’t do much to stop the box-office dip seen over the last 2 weeks. The action sequel is estimated to have earned a franchise-low $8 million opening domestically over the weekend. Pre-release projections had the film earning around $15 million, similar to what “Expendables 3” earned in 2014. It’s possible that not having Sylvester Stallone or the rest of the cast around to promote the film due to the SAG-AFTRA strike contributed to the lower numbers. And Expend4bles may not even take #1 at the box office as its low opening put “The Nun II” within striking distance of keeping the top spot for a third weekend, making it too close to call, at last check.
Pauly Shore has launched a grassroots campaign to become the leading man of a not-yet-in-development Richard Simmons film, asking fans to reach out to major Hollywood studios to help “make it happen.” Shore, the star of “Encino Man” and “Bio-Dome”, said his efforts were sparked by a groundswell of fan interest. He even predicted it would result in an Oscar. However, it has been reported that Simmons is aware of the effort behind a biopic, but does not want to be involved.

A 71-year-old US woman just received set the Guinness World Record for Oldest Female Ninja.
Elon Musk has indicated that X, formerly known as Twitter, is considering charging all users for accessing the platform. Currently, Twitter only charges users for its subscription service X Premium, which offers perks such as a verified account checkmark, and costs US $11 a month. The X owner said erecting a paywall of “a few dollars or something” would ward off the bots, or automated accounts, that have become a problem for the company. Users were, of course, quick to respond, with one writing: “Love a ‘town square’ that you have to pay to access…”, and another: “Twitter can rot in its own filth just fine without me”.
