A Florida woman is accused of shooting her boyfriend in the armpit for snoring too loudly at the mobile home they share together. 47-year-old Lorie Morin has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery after her live-in partner was rushed to hospital via the air ambulance. Footage from the scene showed the victim, named by police as Brett Allgood, being airlifted away on a stretcher after police were called to the home in Cocoa around 10.20pm Wednesday. Initial investigations had suggested the shooting was accidental. But after speaking to her boyfriend police determined that the row escalated because the man was snoring loudly. The victim is said to be in a stable condition at hospital. He was found lying at the foot of the bed in a pool of blood after being shot in his right armpit. The arrest affidavit states how Morin told officers the couple had been drinking Captain Morgan rum and playing rummy. She tried creating bogus stories, such as that her partner tried to remove the gun from her hands when it accidentally went off. She is currently jailed without bond at the Brevard County Jail. According to BabyCenter.com, cravings during pregnancy go beyond food. Some pregnant women develop strong cravings for non-food items such as dirt, ashes, clay, chalk, ice, laundry starch, baking soda, soap, toothpaste, paint chips, plaster, wax, hair, coffee grounds, and even cigarette butts. This common phenomenon is called pica (which is Latin for magpie, a bird that will eat almost anything).

A burglar with a cold was caught after he broke into a house in England because he dropped his handkerchief. The burglar got away with a TV and a leather jacket, but left the hanky at the scene when he got it out to blow his nose. The crook was caught by police after they examined the handkerchief and found traces of his DNA, which were in matched to records in the police computer.

Customs agents at the port of New York and Newark, New Jersey, announced last week that they intercepted a shipment of 3,200 pounds of cocaine last month. $77 million worth of the drug in 60 packages was discovered in a shipping container on February 28, officials said. The drugs reportedly originated in South America, but officials have yet to reveal any arrests.
A Chinese man is being hailed as the “world’s kindest crook” after recently-released security footage shows him taking pity on the woman he was robbing. The woman, who was identified by her surname Li, was withdrawing money from an ATM at an ICBC Bank in Heyuan, China last month when she was accosted by a man wielding a knife. Terrified, Li quickly gave him the 2,500 yuan ($371) that she had just withdrawn from the machine – but when the man was unsatisfied by the amount, he asked her to show him her account balance. Upon seeing that her account balance was at zero, however, the man simply laughs, smiles, and hands over the money that he had just taken from her. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/watch-robber-return-money-to-woman-after-seeing-her-account-balance/

Phoenix Has Seen Snow, Too. Twice, in fact, and both in the same decade: January 20, 1933, and January 21, 1937. Though snow is virtually unheard of in this famously toasty, arid city, on both those occasions it saw an inch of snow, making it the greatest amount of snow the region had ever seen.

A Kentucky man is accused of stealing more than $75,000 of beef tenderloin over several months. News outlets report 42-year-old Billy Wethington was arrested in Louisville on Friday and charged with theft by unlawful taking. Police say Wethington worked at an undisclosed business. During each shift, they say, he's accused of shoving eight to 10 beef tenderloins into a garbage bag and putting it in his vehicle. An arrest citation says Wethington was captured on surveillance video stealing the beef. Court records show the business lost more than $75,000 and up to $100,000 over the course of eight months. The newspaper says police didn't initially reveal what Wethington did with the beef that he's accused of stealing. (https://bit.ly/2EVq5fl)

A man has been arrested after a truck he allegedly stole became stuck on an isolated bridge in Adelaide, Australia’s northern suburbs. The truck and trailer were stolen from a building business in Salisbury South just after 1.30 p.m. on Sunday. The truck had been fitted with a GPS unit so it was able to be tracked. Police searched the area, along a narrow dirt road on the salt pans, and located the truck on a narrow bridge with the suspect still inside the driver’s cab. The 33-year-old The Salisbury Downs man was charged with serious criminal trespass and illegal use of a motor vehicle. He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court. A recovery team worked for about two hours yesterday afternoon to lift the prime mover on to the bridge with a crane.
