Show Notes for Wednesday, April 12, 2023

Today we visit with Alan Barinholtz. He's part of the fun new show “Jury Duty” available for free streaming on Amazon Freevee. Jury Duty is a documentary-style comedy series that chronicles the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one particular juror. What that juror doesn’t know is that the entire case is fake, everyone except him is an actor, and everything that happens — inside the courtroom and out — is carefully planned. The first four episodes were released on Friday, April 7th, two more episodes will be available this Friday and the final two episodes will be available on Friday, April 21.

Experts now believe that pooches don’t really care about what treat they are getting, because they barely taste their food before wolfing it down. And for that reason, some are saying we should make an effort to move away from calorie-laden, fatty treats and instead give . . . vegetable snacks, because your mutt won’t notice the difference. With that in mind, Georgia Woods-Lee, a canine nutrition expert at the University of Liverpool, says the best treat to give your dog isn’t meat or cheese but courgette. The what-now? Courgette. It’s a cucumber-like vegetable that’s low in calories, full of water, dogs like it, and it poses no health issues. After all, she says: “The act of giving and receiving the treat is far more important than what the treat actually is”.

Jason Alexander is done with Twitter. Almost. The “Seinfeld” star has revealed he’ll quit the social media platform as soon as the blue check mark that verifies his identity is removed. Owner Elon Musk has said the check marks, which were free, will disappear from previously verified accounts on Saturday, but people can buy them back for up to $11 a month. But Alexander isn’t biting. He wrote: “There are bigger issues in the world than the blue verified check next to my name on this account. But without it, anyone can allege to be me. So, if I lose that check, know I will leave this platform,”

Melissa Joan Hart lent a helping hand to a group of small children and teachers who were fleeing the Nashville shooting earlier this week. The “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star shared in an Instagram video that she and her husband, Mark Wilkerson, were on their way to a conference at their kids’ school — not far from where the incident occurred – when they ran into the victims. While getting emotional in her video, Hart said: “We helped a class of kindergarteners across a busy highway that were climbing out of the woods, that were trying to escape the shooter situation at their school.” She also said she and her husband “helped a mom reunite with her children.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yc68rv89

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

UPS was started by 2 teenagers with one bicycle and $100 borrowed from a friend.

This story comes from Concho, Oklahoma, where Red Rocker Sammy Hagar was performing at the Lucky Star Casino. Jerry Moore, 56 and Marsha Greene, 60, attended the show and apparently had a good time. A very good time. And what better way to keep the party going than by heading over to the TA Truck Stop? The cops were called when they were spotted “taking naked pictures in front of the semis in the parking lot.” When the cops arrived, they found them in the back inside Jerry’s truck, still naked. And Marsha was playing with a “large” sex toy. The cops advised them to get a room, but not before first charging them with public indecency. And they were banned from the truck stop for life.

This story comes from Elyria, Ohio, where Elizabeth Wilson was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. The cop noticed she was rather nervous and asked her to get out of the car. She quickly locked the doors and refused to get out, saying she was carrying nothing illegal. After some negotiating, she finally exited the vehicle, but was still yelling and uncooperative. Finally, she shouted, “Fine! You want to see what I have?” and raised her shirt and bra. Not the best idea. The quick flash caused the crack pipe she had hidden in her bra to fall to the ground. Busted! Charged with possession of cocaine, obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia.

FUN FACT FOR YOU:
Share this with your friends... they'll think you're really smart!

Prior to the 17th century, most carrots were purple.

The letter ‘Z’ is the least frequently used letter in written English. It is, however, more common in American English than in British English, due to spelling differences.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

According to the US Transportation Security Administration, peanut butter is now a “liquid”. And that means you might want to re-think bringing that jar of Skippy on your next vacation. The TSA took to Twitter this week to make the announcement of PB’s new classification, explaining that you can only bring it in your carry-on if it’s 3.4oz or less. Demonstrating that the gov’t agency isn’t totally without humor, the TSA posted: “You may not be nuts about it, but TSA considers your PB a liquid.” How is it they figure that something that “sticks to the roof of your mouth” is a liquid? Accompanied by the message was a pic of a jar of peanut butter, with the words: “Peanut butter… a liquid, has no definite shape and takes a shape dictated by its container.”
