A recent study found those who drink 2-3 cups of coffee daily have a lower risk of depression and anxiety. The research, published in Psychiatry Research last month, also found that people who drank more than 6 cups daily were found to have a higher risk of depression and anxiety. Those who drank 1-2 cups of daily had a slightly lower risk of developing depression and anxiety, — not as low as those who consumed 2-3 cups per day. Researchers said caffeine is believed to be the factor that influences mental health.

A new anti-obesity drug could allow you to lose weight — and eat anything you want! Scientists say they have discovered what they call an “obesity switch” in the brain. It controls a cluster of neurons in the brain that regulates fat expenditure. The researchers at the Institute for Basic Science in Korea say this could lead to the end of obesity for a billion people worldwide. The team says it has already conducted successful animal trials of a new drug, which helped mice lose weight without cutting down on food intake.

After 10 seasons, “The Masked Singer” is getting a panel shake-up — but it should only be temporary. Rita Ora will be stepping in for Nicole Scherzinger for Season 11. The change comes as Scherzinger prepares to star in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Sunset Boulevard.” Performances begin this month, and the show is set to run for 16 weeks. But that conflicts with the filming of Season 11 of The Masked Singer, so in steps Ora, who is no stranger to the show, being an alum of “The Masked Singer UK.”

Singer Macy Gray, actor Chet Hanks (son of Tom), and Bravolebrity Kim Zolciak are among the celebs set to cohabitate in a Los Angeles mansion for the new season of “The Surreal Life”. Ally Brooke, O.T. Genasis, Johnny Weir, and Josie Conseco round out the cast of MTV’s revival of the VH1 reality series, which centers on the famous inhabitants’ growing friendships, relationships, and conflicts as they compete in challenges. The upcoming season will begin production this month. The show, which originally ran between 2003-06, was resuscitated at MTV last year.

Steve Martin is rebutting Miriam Margolyes’ claims that he was “rather horrid” to work with on the 1986 film “Little Shop of Horrors.” In her new book, she claims she was “hit all day by doors opening in my face” and “repeatedly punched, slapped and knocked down” by Martin as they tried to perfect a scene. But in a statement, Martin said he “was surprised” by “Margolyes’ pejorative account of our scene in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’”, and that his memory is that the “had a good communication as professional actors” and that he took “EXTREME caution regarding the fake punch.”

TikTok – is there anything it can’t do? A new viral ketchup bottle hack has showed up on the site, showing a “genius” way to be sure you get every last drop of the red nectar of the gods. Content creator Casey Rieger posted her test of the “life hack” with a bottle of ketchup. At the start of the 24-second video, she says: “OK, I saw someone do this on TikTok and I thought it was genius. So, I’m going to give it a try.” She explains how most of us simply tap the closed cap of the bottle with open hand in an attempt at getting the last bit of ketchup. Rieger then demonstrates the method she has seen, proceeding to spin her left arm in a counterclockwise motion as she holds the ketchup bottle from its base. She spins the bottle 7 times, then shows her TikTok followers that the movement pushed the condiment down the bottleneck toward the cap. She finishes the video, saying: “How cool is that, right?” The vid has over 22.7 million views, 2.3 million likes and over 27,000 comments. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2s36jb75

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

Just in time for fall and winter sniffles, the US Food and Drug Administration has decided that phenylephrine, a popular ingredient in oral cold and allergy medications doesn’t work…and oral medications containing it may eventually be pulled from the shelves. So, what are the alternatives when cold symptoms hit? Here are some expert suggestions…

Sinus irrigation: By sending water with a salt solution through your sinuses, neti pots and similar devices remove mucus and inflammatory products. (And also give you that wonderful childhood feeling of submerging yourself in water, upside-down!)

Warm compresses, hot showers and hydration: They make it easier for your nose to stay at the state it needs to keep the mucus flowing. (Ewww…..)

Getting good sleep: If you’re not sleeping well, your body has reduced ability to fight infection. If you have to breathe through your mouth at night, use a humidifier to keep the air warm and moist, and elevate your head.

Spicy foods: It’s true – they actually help, through a chemical called capsaicin. As you know, if you eat something spicy, your nose runs. And that helps drain mucus from your sinuses.

Chicken soup: NO! NOT in your neti-pot! A study in 2018 found there could be an anti-inflammatory property to chicken soup that reduces cold symptoms. Another found the spices and steam can be helpful to clearing sinuses.
