This #MovieStarMonday we visit with Kevin Sorbo and his wife Sam Sorbo. They've been married for 25 years and met on the set of "Hercules" which was the No. 1 show around the world (ran '94-'00) - the success created the spin off "Young Hercules" with Ryan Gosling. While filming "Hercules" Kevin suffered an aneurysm that led to several strokes. It took three years for him to learn how to walk again and regain his vision.
They're in MIRACLE IN EAST TEXAS. Inspired by a true story. The film stars Kevin and Sam Sorbo, John Ratzenberger (Cheers and TOY STORY) and Lou Gossett Jr. (AN OFFICER & A GENTLEMAN). Every saint has a past. Every sinner has a future. In 1931, a pair of con artists, Doc Boyd and Dad Everett (Sorbo, Ratzenberger), blow into the small Texas town during the Great Depression targeting the savings of lonely widows with an oil scam. The vulnerable widows quickly fall prey to their romantic gestures and promises of profits. Then, miraculously, the unthinkable happens and they literally strike oil. That's just the first of many miracles that start popping forth from the dead soil of East Texas. Will these miracles make honest men out of these swindlers and change their larcenous conniving ways? This tall tale inspired by a true story comes from a time when bums became billionaires and sinners became saints.

STUDIES & SUCH: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com
You may have caught this info late last week – but to me, it’s news best suited to a Monday. It turns out that if you hit snooze, you don’t lose. A new study by scientists in Sweden suggests that snoozing your alarm has no impact on sleep quality. What’s more, for some, hitting the button multiple times over 30 minutes may spark alertness more quickly than sleeping through without a break. The study found “that snoozing for 30 minutes in the morning does not make you more tired or more likely to wake up from deep sleep,” said the study’s lead author, Tina Sundelin, an associate professor at Stockholm University. According to her, “For those who usually snooze, it might even be helpful with waking.” Among those participating in a study group, 69% said they hit the snooze button at least sometimes, and 60%, said they generally fall asleep between alarm

You
might think that with the recent popularity of appetite-supressing
drugs, candy-makers could soon be feeling the crunch, due to a
corresponding drop in sales. But Nestlé isn’t going down without a
fight. The company has announced it is working on “companion
products” for weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, and Wegovy. Nestlé
claims there is a market for products that will allow those on
weight-loss drugs to get the nutrients, minerals and nutrients they
need — while still supporting their goals.

Gwyneth Paltrow will soon be ready to live the goop life—out of the public eye. She has shared that she plans to sell her wellness empire Goop in a few years — then retire from the spotlight. But she has “no idea” who may buy her company. Paltrow told Bustle that she’d be “happy” with the idea of making a big exit for her 55th birthday in 2027. Then what? Quote: “I will literally disappear from public life. No one will ever see me again.” Paltrow also admitted she doesn’t find pleasure in her celebrity status, but does enjoy “creating, collaborating…innovating…strategy, vision, that kind of thing.”
Martin Scorsese has often found his onscreen hero in Leonardo DiCaprio — but for “Killers of the Flower Moon”, the actor wanted to take on a different role. DiCaprio was originally slated to portray FBI lead investigator ‘Tom White’ a white man who is brought to Oklahoma in the 1920s to investigate murders in the Osage Nation. But when Scorsese’s story changed, DiCaprio was quick to suggest a personal recasting. Scorsese hoped to avoid the white-savior trope, and ultimately decided against anchoring the film around the detective’s perspective. It was DiCaprio who suggested he could instead play ‘Ernest Burkhart’, a man who marries an Osage woman (played by Lily Gladstone) but ultimately gets involved in schemes to kill the Osage people for their oil money. White is now portrayed onscreen by Jesse Plemons.

It’s a hot new Halloween trend that has some young candy-lovers seriously spooked. But others love it. Some parents are taking part in “Switch witch”, where their kids are encouraged to trade their trick-or-treat candy for toys. Why? To discourage excess sugar consumption, and the health concerns that go along with it, like obesity and tooth cavities. To take part in Switch-witch, parents still encourage their children to enjoy a night of trick-or-treating, but when they return home, they pick out a certain number (5 or 6) of their favorite candies to keep. The rest? It is placed in a special spot, and during the night, the Switch witch comes to collect the candy, leaving a gift in return. Some parents say their little ghosts and goblins are just as excited for the Switch witch to come as they were for Halloween.
Google has released its list 2023 list of the “Frightgeist” Halloween costume searches. The search engine says that this year’s top Halloween costume is – of course – ‘Barbie’. It’s the first time in 3 years that ‘witch’ isn’t in the top spot. The Frightgeist index, which analyses search data throughout the US and locally, shows that following Barbie, the most-searched Halloween costume searches are ‘princess’, ‘Spider-Man’, ‘witch’, ‘fairy’, ‘Wednesday Addams’, ‘dinosaur’, ‘cowboy’, ‘ninja’ and ‘bunny’. Top couple’s costumes? ‘Barbie and Ken’ (of course), followed by ‘Mario and Luigi’, ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, ‘Cosmo and Wanda’, and ‘Lilo and Stitch’. For family costumes, the top picks are, in order, ‘Addams Family’, ‘Toy Story’, ‘Mario’, ‘Flintstones’ and ‘Monsters Inc’. And for babies, you can’t go wrong with a ‘Slinky dog’ costume. That one is followed by ‘Pebbles’ and ‘Bam Bam’, ‘Chucky’, ‘Barbie’ and ‘Theodore Chipmunk’. LINK: https://frightgeist.withgoogle.com/costumes

It won’t be here in time for Halloween, but Britain’s Exeter University has announced it’ll offer an unusual postgraduate course next year for those looking to score a master’s degree in magic and occult science. UBER EATS’
Delivery service Uber Eats has released its 5th annual “Cravings Report”, detailing the most popular, and more interestingly, the weirdest and most unpredictable special requests that customers have made so far this year. Among the highlights:
• A customer asked that a restaurant put her order into a box rather than a circular container, saying: “I refuse to eat any food if presented in a circle container. Please don’t ruin my meal for me.”
• Another demanded this: “Please drench the whole bowl in white sauce with a spiral of red sauce!!!! Thank you so much!!!! Just do what I ask.”
• Probably at the end of a night out, one customer asked for “Extra cheese sauce please 🙂 I’ll pay for it. I’m also drunk as f so if you load it up, you’d make me the happiest drunk girl ever.”
• A chicken lover specified: “Please fry my chicken VERY hard. Very very crispy. Almost burned!”
• Another ‘chicken orderer’ said: “My cats think your chicken is crack, so this is for them!”
• And this person must have had a craving: “Long time no order! Breasts please! Please fry me up some big ‘ole breasts! Thank you, so excited!”
And by the way, Uber also reported that the “wildest” food pairings of the year are: Cottage cheese & mustard, steak & jelly, condensed milk & avocado, seaweed & pasta sauce…and butter & pickled onions.
