Central Perk Coffeehouse, named after the fictional shop featured on “Friends”, opened its first permanent location in Boston — and it used the occasion to honor Matthew Perry. For the grand opening, the coffee shop announced in a press release that it would “distribute the Chandler Bing ‘Can I Interest You in a Sarcastic Comment’ sleeve…for the entire day, in honor of the life and enduring legacy of Matthew Perry.” The shop, which licensed the name, is located on Boston’s famed Newbury Street, and is modeled after the spot where the Friends characters hung out. Its opening was delayed out of respect for Perry following his death on Oct. 28. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2xha8e8f

The Simpsons” co-creator James L. Brooks has confirmed that ‘Homer’ will continue to strangle ‘Bart’ on the show. Earlier this month, the show appeared to confirm it had retired the long-running joke. The reveal was made in season 35 episode “McMansion & Wife”, in which Homer tells ‘Marge’ that he’s changed his ways. But Brooks suggested to People that the gag will continue after all, saying: “Don’t think for a second we’re changing anything. Nothing’s getting tamed…He’ll continue to be strangled—[if] you want to use that awful term for it. He’ll continue to be loved by his father in a specific way.”

Blake Lively is the best “Instagram boyfriend!” On Sunday, the “Gossip Girl” star joked about taking “thirst content” of her husband, Ryan Reynolds, midway through a grueling “Deadpool” workout. After Reynolds shared pics that featured his fitness trainer with and Lively’s reflection in the mirror, the actress reposted the picture on her Instagram, writing, “Find yourself a better Instagram boyfriend than me.” She then zoomed in on her reflection, showing her smiling while taking the picture through a phone. She added: “I’ll wait. (Because) I know low-key capturing thirst content of your fine azz husband is not photography, it’s a public service.”

While that’s certainly a good idea, but a study published in the European Heart Journal found that swapping 30 minutes of sitting per day for – sleeping — lowered body mass by nearly 1 pound (.43kg) and sliced about 2/3 of an inch (1.75cm) from waistlines. The researchers pointed out that you should still endeavor to eat right, exercise, and get rid of stress, as well as get enough sleep, to reduce cardiovascular risk.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

There is a TikTok hack going around that advises people to put toilet paper in the fridge as a way of eliminating the stench of spoiled food – or whatever else is the cause of that ungodly smell in there. You heard that right — your two-ply Charmin Ultra-Soft can soak up odors. Yes, Baking soda is the traditional approach to eliminating odors. . . but honestly, what under-30-year-old has baking soda in the house? The experts at “Parade” recommend using a fresh roll, placing it in the back of the fridge away from anything that could leak on it, and throwing away the roll after 3 weeks — and they even warn you: “don’t try to reuse the roll in the bathroom”. And by the way, baking soda aside, some other ways to neutralize the stink in your refrigerator include activated charcoal, vanilla, coffee grounds, lemon and oats – or fridge-specific deodorizers, which are available at your local store. EFFECTIVE HELP FOR SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER:

With the end of Daylight Saving Time, the resulting lack of sunlight at the end of the day, plus colder weather and less time outdoors, can have an impact on our mental well-being. Here are some strategies for boosting mood and managing the winter blues…

Light therapy: A light therapy box that emits bright, full-spectrum light, mimicking natural sunlight. This can help alleviate some of the symptoms associated with the winter blues and SAD.

Exercise: Regular physical activity, even if it’s indoors, can improve mood and energy levels. Consider indoor activities like yoga, dancing, or using exercise equipment.

Keep to a sleep schedule: Regular, adequate and high-quality sleep can have a positive impact on mood.

Watch your diet: Eat a well-balanced diet with a focus on whole, nutritious foods. And be mindful of sugar and carb intake, which can lead to energy crashes.

Be social: Stay in touch with loved ones, and engage in activities with others, even if it means doing so virtually.

Set goals and have structure: Establish achievable daily goals and maintain a routine. This can provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

Practice mindfulness and relaxation: Meditation and relaxation techniques help manage stress and anxiety.

Spend time outdoors: Get outside at some point during daylight hours. Even on cloudy days, exposure to natural light can be beneficial.

Engage in self-care: Do things you enjoy, like reading, taking warm baths or pampering yourself in other ways.

Practice gratitude: Keep a gratitude journal to focus on the positive aspects of life and cultivate a more optimistic outlook.
