A new study suggests “spenders” are happier, but “savers” are wiser. The poll of 2,000 American shoppers found 56% consider themselves to be “spenders” — splurging for things they really want, while 34% think of themselves as “savers” who won’t shop until what they want goes on sale – or becomes a necessity. 10% were somewhere in between. Overall, spenders were found to be happier, by a margin of about 77% to 62%. But savers seem to have the upper hand when it comes to managing their money — only 29% of their total annual income is used on miscellaneous purchases, while spenders use up 38% of their income.

Kevin Costner reunited with his band Modern West for 2 sold-out two shows in Jackson WY. The recently divorced actor celebrated the shows on social media, writing: “The band and I had a truly incredible couple of nights playing at @milliondollarcowboybar. I always love to be in Jackson Hole, where the hospitality is as legendary as this honky tonk’s saddled barstools.” Video shows Costner in a cowboy hat, smiling and singing with his band in a couple of different venues. The reunion comes just over a month after the former “Yellowstone” actor settled his divorce from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.

Meg Ryan has revealed why she took a break from Hollywood ahead of her highly-anticipated return in “What Happens Later”. She told People: “I felt like there’s just so many other parts of my experience as a human being I wanted to develop.” Ryan said that it’s nice to be able to think of acting “as a job and not a lifestyle. And that is a great way of navigating it for me.” She took an 8-year hiatus from acting following 2015’s “Ithaca”, before announcing her return last year for her latest film, which she will also direct.

Scientists claim that laughter is a proven way to lose weight

If you still have a lonely-looking, slightly-used jack-o-lantern or pumpkin sitting on your front porch, hold off on throwing it in the trash. They don’t have to end up in the landfill. Here are a few suggestions:

Consider composting pumpkins in the garden. Slice it up, add materials such as leaves, sawdust, wood chips or cardboard, and occasionally add water to the compost pile. Turning it over with a rake or pitchfork ensures that oxygen is mixed in.

Donate them to a community garden, farm or even a zoo, or just leave them as a snack for backyard wildlife. Pumpkin is a meal for many farm, zoo and ‘critter’-type animals. And pumpkin seeds are a tasty treat for a wide variety of birds.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

We’ve all made embarrassing language flubs while traveling abroad. But a tourist in Portugal took the cake when he accidentally caused a bomb scare by mistranslating the local word for “pomegranate.” The boo-boo occurred when the unnamed Russian speaker from Azerbaijan was trying to order fruit juice at a restaurant in Lisbon. Things backfired after he tried to translate the seed-filled dessert fruit’s name into Portuguese using a language app. He wrote the translation on a napkin and handed it to a waiter. Little did he know, the app had come up with the word for grenade, causing the staffer to interpret the note as a bomb threat — and call police. Local news footage shows 5 officers approaching the traveler with their guns drawn as he lies on the ground. Then they cuff him and take him into custody. He was later released.
