Yes, we all get glassy-eyed and bored when faced with the prospect of yet another Zoom meeting. But researchers from Aalto University say their study found that drowsiness during online meetings is largely due to a lack of mental stimulation and boredom. Study authors explain that it’s naturally much easier to maintain our focus during in-person face-to-face meetings, compared to virtual get-togethers. Why? Because video chats feature limited cognitive cues and sensory input, and therefore, the participant is left “under-stimulated and may start to compensate by multitasking.”

Japanese scientists say their new study has finally proven (contrary to some previous research) that “warming up” muscles before exercise really does improve performance. They say that one of the most exciting aspects of their research is its potential application to the elderly population. Incorporating appropriate warm-up routines into the daily lives of seniors could significantly improve their muscle and exercise performance. This, in turn, could reduce the risk of injury, and help maintain their independence.

Some big news for fans of “Yellowstone”. The show’s final chapter, the second half of its 5th season, will premiere on Paramount Network in November 2024, it has been announced. In addition, the Yellowstone universe is expanding with another prequel, working title “1944”. And the previously announced contemporary spinoff series is now expected to carry on with the title “2024”. That show will premiere following the conclusion of Yellowstone. Matthew McConaughey is expected to headline 2024, joined by actors from the original series

Cher, plus a bevy of Broadway stars, will perform at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, it has been announced. Both the Parade and the NBC broadcast will kick off at 8:30am ET on Thursday, November 23, a half-hour earlier than usual. The event also will include Jon Batiste and the Broadway casts of “& Juliet”, “Back to the Future”, “How To Dance In Ohio”, “Shucked”, and “Spamalot”, plus a special appearance by Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells of “Gutenberg! The Musical!” The Thanksgiving event will also feature appearances and performances by, among others, Bell Biv DeVoe, Brandy, En Vogue, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Jessie James Decker, Pentatonix, and, of course, the Radio City Rockettes.

Wynonna Judd will join “The Voice” as a mega mentor for Season 24, NBC has announced. Judd joins coaches Niall Horan, John Legend, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani on the 4-time Emmy-winning musical competition series. She’s the latest country music superstar to join the show, following last season’s exit of Blake Shelton. Reba McEntire served as a mega mentor for Season 23 and was promoted to judge for the current Season 24. Judd will mentor the artists who have made it through the Battle Rounds beginning Nov. 6.

A report determined that people would rather give up sex than their morning coffee.

You’ve probably heard of the viral texting mishap between a grandma and a teenager that has blossomed into a heartwarming Thanksgiving tradition. And now you could be part of the celebration, because Airbnb is offering a chance to join them at the table! Seven years ago, Jamal Hinton’s story became a sensation, when, as a teen, he received a text inviting him to Wanda Dench’s Thanksgiving feast. Here’s the thing: The text was intended for Wanda’s grandson. But after she and Jamal chatted, he ended up getting invited for real. The 2 have reunited every year since for Thanksgiving, and this year, they’re teaming up with Airbnb to give 2 lucky guests the chance to join them, and enjoy a 1-night stay at Wanda’s home in Arizona before US Thanksgiving. They’ll get seats at the annual dinner, and will participate in other traditions of Wanda’s get together, like board games, watching movies, and cozying up by the fire with some cider or hot cocoa. And of course, whoever it is that manages to secure the booking will also be included in Wanda and Jamal’s annual selfie – sure to go viral again this year. The stay will cost only $16 — a nod to the year Wanda and Jamal first spent the holiday together. And Airbnb is making a donation to Feeding America. WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A tourist was injured after falling into the crater of Italy’s Mount Vesuvius as he tried to take a selfie. 23-year-old Phillip Carrel and his family had reached the summit of the volcano, which provides a stunning backdrop to the city of Naples, by taking a banned path. The American was taking the selfie at the top of the 4,200 feet volcano when he dropped his phone. He climbed down into the crater to try to get it back, lost his balance, and fell about 15 meters. Guides had to rappel into the crater to get him to safety, while police responded and a rescue helicopter was also scrambled. He was treated for cuts and bruises, and now faces charges for invasion of public land. Mount Vesuvius, which erupted in AD 79 and devastated the nearby town of Pompeii, is a popular spot for hiking.
