SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

A recent study of 2.4 million people found that, believe it or not, being online might actually improve your well-being. The research, published in the journal Technology, Mind and Behaviour, claims to include more geographic diversity than most previous studies, which might make it more accurate than previous conclusions, which have tended to find the opposite. It was found that people with internet access scored 8% higher on measures of life satisfaction and contentment with their social life, and sense of purpose than those without internet. That’s about the same positive impact people get from taking a walk in nature.

The line where the sky meets the sea is calling “Moana” once again, as Disney has released the first trailer for its highly-anticipated sequel. The clip sees the return of ‘Moana’ and ‘Maui’, voiced by Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, where they reunite 3 years later, as Moana says, thanks to “a call from the ancestors to sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the entire ocean”. Maui then appears on her boat, and refers to a chicken and pig as “boat snacks.” “Moana 2” opens Nov. 27. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/55znbhsw

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

47% of men have said “I love you” by accident.

A 5-year-old boy born with one hand has become the youngest ever person to be fitted with a bionic arm. Jordan Marotta was left in a state of “pure joy” when he received his Iron Man-themed ‘Hero Arm’ prosthetic last month. Heartwarming footage shows how, just hours later, he was able to whizz around on his scooter while holding the handlebars with the arm’s life-like grip. His mother Ashley had approached Open Bionics – which makes the prosthetic – when Jordan started questioning why his hand had not “grown back”. She was told he was likely too young to receive one of their products, but let Jordan try out an arm, just in case. They later agreed to fit him with the Hero Arm at their offices in New York City, 2 years earlier than most youngsters. Of his new mechanical limb, Jordan says it is “really fun and it’s cool.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/p6rv6pb8

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

Dubai scientist and filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili is aiming to make available the concept of transplanting a head onto a donor body for those suffering from cancer or paralysis. As farfetched as it looks and sounds, his recently-released video explaining the tech, which he calls “BrainBridge,” is getting plenty of attention. The proposed head transplantation process involves attaching a patient’s head onto a brain-dead donor body, with the goal of preserving the patient’s consciousness, memories, and cognitive abilities. Al-Ghaili feels that the procedure could be available within 8 years, thanks to the integration of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence. His 3D animated promo clip, which feels like a movie trailer, shows 2 robotic surgical machines with human-like arms and hands removing the head from the patient’s body, and placing it onto a brain-dead donor body. Al-Ghaili believes that a human brain could last “several hundred years, provided the rest of the body remains young.”
