THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
(COMMENTS ARE WELCOME)

Dear John,

I just started dating a guy that I think is about 95% perfect for me. We have so many things in common and we have many of the same interests. We have the same Catholic background, we're both from large families. The one thing that I struggle with is his bizarre diet. I was raised to eat meat and potatoes and have always liked cooking. He doesn't like most of the things I like when it comes to food. He doesn't eat meat, he doesn't make a big deal of it if I want to, but he just doesn't like meat. He even said he won't call himself a vegetarian, because he has eaten meat and will choose to once in a while, but just doesn't like meat. I'm trying to think what that would be like to live together if we did get married. My sister said it would be a pretty petty reason to break up with the guy over this. What do you think? Do you think we could make a relationship like this work? Not sure how it would go. I'm looking for advice.

The lead guitarist from the film “School of Rock” is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing and pawning guitars in a multi-county theft spree that the suspect blamed on a drug addiction problem. Joseph Gaydos is a defendant in four separate grand theft cases filed in connection with his boosting last month of instruments in Florida’s Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties. 27-year-old Gaydos appeared opposite Jack Black in 2003’s “School of Rock,” when he was a child actor. According to investigators, Gaydos, who resides in Punta Gorda, stole an $800 Les Paul Epiphone guitar from North Port Music on January 31st. After playing the instrument for a few minutes, Gaydos “got up and ran out of the door with the guitar.” Within two hours, Gaydos sold the instrument for $200 to a Fort Myers pawn shop. A Traffic Jam Once Lasted 12 Days
You think your commute is bad, but this should give you some perspective: In August 2010, a traffic jam in Beijing lasted a dozen days, stretching 62 miles along the Beijing-Tibet expressway and China National Highway 110. It finally dissipated after authorities allowed more trucks to enter Beijing—the city has strict “road space rationing” laws—around the clock and got trucking companies to take alternate routes.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com
Police say that a California man was caught on camera pouring diesel fuel onto his neighbor’s house in an effort to burn a ghost out of the residence. In the video, he pours diesel onto the porch of the Stockton home and attempts to light it, but the fire never ignites. A woman and her two children were asleep inside the house at the time of the early Thursday morning incident. The man, who lives across the street, was quickly arrested after the family called police. The homeowner said, “They arrested him. He said that he didn't have anything against us, that he thought he saw a ghost in our house and to me that's just even scarier.” The man, 38-year-old Cuong Pham, was charged with arson and attempted murder. MOMENT OF DUH: Brought to you by FunkyMonkeyShirts.com

Four men tried to steal an ATM from a Silver Spring, Maryland 7-Eleven in February, and it turned out to be trickier than they anticipated. Montgomery County police released a 2-minute surveillance video of the February 17th bungled burglary that took place around 4:00 a.m. The video shows a pickup truck smashing backward through the storefront, then three masked men climb over the debris, and slowly, but surely, load the heavy machine on their orange-painted steel hand truck, which they brought with them to execute the heist. The would-be thieves struggle with the ATM, and one suspect appears less than helpful, drawing a punch in the arm from his partner, encouraging him to pitch-in. Finally the masked suspects get the cash-filled machine out the door. Officer Rick Goodale said, “The ATM falls off the hand truck onto one of the suspects. The suspects realize their ride has gone.” At that point the hapless thieves skedaddle, leaving the ATM lying in the parking lot, but returning for the hand truck.
