The woman told authorities that she hit her 76-year-old boyfriend five times with a VCR tape. Police said she was also swinging a leaf blower battery at him in a “threatening manner.” She was reportedly intoxicated at the time. Police arrested a Utah man for investigation of reckless driving and other charges after he crashed through a home's garage door Saturday. 35-year-old Janis Michael Threlfall was booked into the Weber County Jail after he told officers he did not see the stop sign, the intersection he drove through, or the garage door he crashed through because he was looking for a battery he had dropped while trying to plug it into his phone. “Luckily no injuries were reported,” Roy police officials wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, but there was “extensive” damage to the home and a car inside the garage. “Just pay attention,” said Roy Police officer Roy Steward Hackworth. “Don't get distracted by all the stuff going on in your car. Charging your phone can wait. Put your stuff down and pay attention.” According to the Weber County Jail, in addition to reckless driving, Threlfall was booked into jail for investigation of operating a vehicle without insurance, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and failure to appear on a citation.
