How do two men get charged with DUI at the same time, from the same vehicle? In an only-in-Florida-like incident, the men, apparently brothers, allegedly got behind the wheel of the same vehicle, in front of police. Palm Beach Gardens police got a call about a reckless driver around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. When an officer arrived, they found 24-year-old Alfredo Lopez Chaj behind the wheel of a running blue Nissan SUV near the Paloma neighborhood. But by the time the officer got to the vehicle, Alfredo was standing outside the SUV. 20-year-old Martin Lopez Chaj then slid from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat and tried to put the car in reverse in an attempt to flee, but the officer pulled him out. By law, police say, a person is considered driving if he or she is in any way in control of a running vehicle, even if it is not moving. The report went into detail about both men smelling of alcohol and showing signs of impairment. Both, it also noted, had wet their pants. They were booked early Thursday morning at the Palm Beach County Jail. (https://bit.ly/2XPrMEY)

American Idol began the live (to tape) shows, with all 20 finalists and the judges at home. Ryan Seacrest will anchor the show from his house, where he happens to have the American Idol desk from its original airing on FOX. Because the live shows were delayed, there will be multiple eliminations each week. Producers sent iPhone cameras and lighting kits to the contestants, and have been working with them on how and where to shoot their performances at home, and on how to do their wardrobe, makeup and hair by themselves.. The performances will be taped in order to get the show ready for broadcast, as well as keep the contestants on an equal playing field, in case someone’s camera fails.

Millions of people started receiving their emergency stimulus checks last week, but people are still hurting, still without a paycheck, and still wondering if and when they’ll have a job to go back to. And so it’s no wonder that in a new survey, 84 percent of Americans would like to receive a second round of governmental help as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Germany’s iconic Oktoberfest celebration has been canceled for 2020 because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The traditional celebration is typically held in Munich from mid-September until early October. While this year’s festivities are still a few months away, officials decided to make the call early because of the dangers of gathering in large groups amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A 70-year-old Toms River, New Jersey man was arrested twice in less than three hours Saturday after violating the state’s emergency orders during the Coronavirus pandemic by entering separate Wawa stores without a mask and threatening to hit people with a pipe. Stephen Breza became belligerent when he walked into a Wawa in Toms River at around 11:00 a.m. and was told he needed to have his face covered, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General said Monday. Breza then started screaming and cursing at employees before threatening to hit another customer with a pipe, according to Toms River police. He screamed at the responding officers and resisted arrest prior to being taken into custody. After being booked and released, Breza went to a different Wawa at about 1:30 p.m. and again entered without a mask. He then punched a customer in the face and went to his car to get a pipe, which he began waving around.
