An 82-year-old Florida retiree busted for drunk driving after wrecking his golf cart claimed Donald Trump drove him to drink. Investigators say Cary De Van, a former IBM manager, wrecked his ride early Thursday evening in a one-cart accident less than a mile from his home in The Villages, the country’s largest retirement community. As detailed in an arrest report, De Van apparently drove his red cart over a concrete curb, breaking its axle and dislodging the windshield. The golf cart is the preferred mode of transportation for elderly Villages people, who like to think of the sprawling development as “Florida’s friendliest hometown.” Upon contacting De Van, who was not injured in the wreck, police suspected that the man--who was slurring his words and smelled of booze--had been drinking. While speaking with a cop, De Van reportedly explained that he “was watching President Trump on TV then got really mad at what he said.” De Van added that began consuming vodka after enduring the current president’s performance. Charged with driving under the influence, De Van was booked into the Sumter County jail on the misdemeanor count.(https://bit.ly/319ACNU)

An outback Australia watering hole has barred the big birds from the premises following a series of flaps. The emus, Australia’s largest native bird, were originally raised near Queensland’s remote Yaraka Hotel, and have become a local tourist attraction, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. But as they grew older, they began climbing the steps into the pub and wreaking more havoc than any over-served patron by stealing customers’ food, drinks, and car keys — and relieving themselves inside. “We didn’t really want them becoming patrons in the hotel,” the hotel’s owner, Chris Gimblett, told ABC. “Because when they do get in here, they behave a bit badly.” The solution was to erect ropes in front of the joint’s doors, along with signs reading, “Emus have been banned from this establishment for bad behavior.” (https://bit.ly/2CRjHYx)

MOMENT OF DUH: Brought to you by InsuranceChicken.com

A Texas man allegedly blew Coronavirus Relief Loans meant for small businesses on strip clubs, a brand-new Lamborghini, and a Rolex watch. 29-year-old Lee Price III is accused of scamming the U.S. government’s Payment Protection Program out of more than $1.6 million by claiming he needed the cash for payroll expenses. He was allegedly involved in a scheme to submit fraudulent PPP loan applications, and did so successfully for two companies — neither of which actually had any employees. And, the person listed as CEO on the application for one of the companies, 713 Construction, had died a month before it was submitted. Once Price got his hands on the loans, he allegedly used the cash to make lavish purchases, including a Lamborghini Urus, a 2020 Ford F-350 pickup truck and on real estate transactions. He also blew thousands at strip clubs and nightclubs in Houston. He is facing several charges including making false statements to a financial institution. (https://bit.ly/3ic4oIC)
