THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

My wife is pregnant. How can she get people to stop unwanted belly rubs? She has an adorable pregnant belly... but she's not a fan of people touching her in any way ever, and she really dislikes it when people touch her belly. I’ll admit she’s got the most perfectly round preggers belly I’ve ever seen, but I’ve never felt compelled to just reach out and start touching and rubbing a stranger's belly, but it happens often. Have you heard of this? It's happened more often for her on this pregnancy for some reason. I jokingly said I was going to get her a maternity shirt that says “you can look but you can't touch” and she said that was an awesome idea! Should I get that for real? Do you think that would draw more attention? Pregnant women and moms, what are your thoughts on people touching your belly? Help me out here!

A man on a flight from one Chinese city to another was kicked off the plane because he refused to stop singing a birthday song to himself. Shortly after boarding, the man announced it was his birthday and told passengers and crew they should bring him free drinks. When no one did he began singing a popular Chinese birthday song loudly, over and over again. He was escorted off the plane before it took off.

David A. Sinclair is a Professor in the Department of Genetics at Harvard and he thinks people will be living to 150 years of age by the end of the century. Sooner than that, all children born after 2050 can easily expect to live to 100.

There’s nothing better than popping the top on a couple cold cans, kicking back and enjoying the delicious nectar of an ice cold beer. And it’s even better when you have a good friend to share it with. Especially if that good friend is your trusty canine. Busch Beer has officially launched Busch Dog Brew, a dog-friendly beer for your dog. The company says: “After a long day there’s nothing quite like having a Busch with a friend, and with so many new pet owners across America this year, we wanted to create a brew to give our fans a chance to share a Busch brew with their ‘best friend’.” And this is beer for a cause, too. Anheuser-Busch has partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to help even more furry friends find a forever home.

If you thought raising a child who loves to play baseball was expensive, just be glad they’re not into ballet. The data website FiveThirtyEight crunched some numbers and estimates that to raise a ballerina will cost you $100,000. The website based the numbers on a student who begins dancing at age 3. If she dances all the way through high school and is accepted into a professional company immediately after graduating — no easy feat — she will have undergone 15 years of ballet education. Those core 15 years of training cost a median of about $53,000. When summer programs, fees, shoes and clothing are added in, it comes to around 100-grand.

Is your internet fast? Probably not as fast as you’d like. Or maybe it is, but is it fast enough to download the entire Netflix library in less than a second? Engineers recently set new world record internet speed, a data transmission rate of 178 terabits a second. The new record, set at University College London, is a fifth faster than the previous world record held by a team in Japan.

During a less-lethal “Bronx Tale”-like fight over a parking space, a man in New Jersey pulled out a spear gun and pointed it at the people he was arguing with. 37-year-old Bradley Rodriguez was busted by police after he pulled out a spear gun from his trunk, loaded it, and “pointed it in a threatening manner” at people he had been arguing with over a parking spot. The incident unfolded at the Beach Tacos restaurant in Seaside Park on August 20th. Cops say Rodriguez is affiliated with the taco joint, but it was not immediately clear how. The MTA started collecting bus fare again on Monday and someone found a jaw-dropping way to hitch a ride for free. A man was clinging on the back of an MTA bus on the FDR Drive on Tuesday, according to John Caruso who captured the shocking video. Caruso says he was in the passenger seat and couldn't believe what he was seeing. He saw the bus get on the busy New York City highway and witnessed the man hanging on for a while. “Is this guy kidding me? We're on the highway,” Caruso can be heard saying in the footage. “It's not every day you see somebody kind of surfing on the back of the bus, especially going down the FDR,” he later told NBC New York. An MTA spokesperson condemned the stunt, calling it "incredibly dumb and dangerous" and urged others to “never do it.” (https://bit.ly/32Wy0DQ)
