THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

I have a little bit of a dilemma. I'm trying to decide what to do. I have a crush on my very best friend from the time I was about five years old. We have never dated. We have always been great friends. Our parents are good friends, so our families have been together for so many events in our lives. We have dated other people and have double dated a bunch, but have never dated each other. I'm single and he is too. I told my mom and she said we would be perfect for each other. My dad said he thinks it a bad idea. He said it would mess up the relationship for our two families if we break up. I think we would actually be a perfect couple. I remember talking about this with him in like 8th grade. He said someday we would get married and have kids, but then we grew up and it never felt right. Now I'm single and he's single and I think it makes sense. Should I talk to him? My dad said he's Ducky. I don't know what that means, but I think he may be my sole mate!

Cash machines are as dirty as public bathrooms, according to tests showing they carry bacteria which can cause sickness and diarrhea. Experts took swabs from the numeric key pads on a string of ATMs. They then took similar swabs from the seats of public restrooms and compared the bacteria under microscopes in a lab. The swab were left to grow overnight and samples from both locations were found to contain pseudomonads and bacillus, bacterias which are known to cause sickness and diarrhea.

There's no such thing as "pear cider." "Wait," you're probably thinking, "I had pear cider last week." Actually, "cider" is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented apples, and only apples. Alcoholic beverages can be made from pears, but that drink is known as "perry." The drink was popular in England for centuries but fell out of favor during the second half of the twentieth century. That turned around in the 1990s when the drink was rebranded as pear cider.

In Quebec, Canada, a four-week-long curfew has been implemented, which requires residents to stay in their homes from 8:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. in the mornings. As with all restrictions, there are a few exemptions to the rule - for essential workers who need to travel and also for those who need to walk their dogs. One woman reportedly attempted to use the latter exemption for her own benefit on Saturday evening, shortly after the curfew came into effect. Local newspaper La Tribune reports that a woman was fined after being stopped walking her partner on a leash. They claim the woman told police she was just out "walking her dog." Isabelle Gendron, of the Sherbrooke Police Department, told the publication: "The couple did not collaborate with the police at all." "Statements of violation of the municipal by-law were given to them. The lady affirmed that she would not pay the ticket and even that she would accumulate them. The amount of findings for recidivism can go up to $6,000." (https://bit.ly/3smbOiG)

A Florida high school teacher was arrested after allegedly spraying her students with disinfectant because they wouldn’t wear their masks properly. 51-year-old Christina Reszetar was hauled out of Largo High School and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on four counts of child abuse. Reszetar, who teaches learning disabled math, allegedly told cops that four of her students had refused to properly wear their face coverings amid the Coronavirus pandemic. According to a police report, she’s accused of aiming aerosol disinfectant spray directly “into the path of their faces and bodies.” Reszetar, who has been a teacher for twenty-one years, spent the night in jail and appeared before a judge last week. She said that surveillance video of the incident would exonerate her. The footage hasn’t yet been released by the Largo Police Department.(https://bit.ly/2MMRAOv)
