THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!

Dear John,

My neighbor moved about six months ago. The new people moved here from out of the area. Our first meeting was not great. I was in my front yard and he told me we're gonna have a problem. I asked why! He said “We're moving in next door”. I laughed because I thought he was kidding. As it turns out, he was not kidding. They've called the police on us several times for parking our car in the street. That's not illegal, so the police have been nice to us about it. They recently had a company build a fence and it's not legal. Their fence is too close to our house. I wouldn't even care, but they have been so awful to us. Part of me wants to make them move their fence, but there's another part of me that says that may be a terrible idea. It could make things worse. We love it here and have no plans to move. What do you think we should do?

Signed – The Good Neighbor

A Florida man was arrested Thursday after authorities say he bit off part of his friend’s ear during a fight. James Williams, 45, is facing battery charges after reportedly taking a bite at his friend’s ear at 2:30 a.m. at the Oceans Edge Resort & Marina on Stock Island. The incident took place as James was on vacation with three friends, when one passed out and he put her in a maintenance wheelbarrow. The friend group told police that James began to pour beer on the woman and made fun of her as he brought her to her hotel room. Williams then began to get agressive with his 28-year-old male friend, who reportedly told him he was being disrespectful. After the woman woke up and tried to help break up the brawl, James pushed both her and his other woman friend. “Williams then pushed the male victim to the ground and began choking him. The male victim stated that Williams bit part of his ear off while others were trying to separate them.” While injuries weren’t life-threatening, police found the male victim with part of his ear “missing and still bleeding.” After the attack, Williams left and was found on the property. He’s being charged with aggravated battery, battery by strangulation, and two additional counts of battery. (https://yhoo.it/3iuKImk)

A man in Belarus was arrested for stealing a Winnie the Pooh child-sized car from a supermarket. The man walked around the supermarket and took a seat on the toy car while talking on his phone. The man then edged it towards the exit doors and slowly but surely maneuvered the toy car across the supermarket’s parking lot.

Do you hate doing some chores so much that you’d fake an illness, or worse, screw up so badly that your significant wouldn’t ask you to do them again? That sounds lazy and selfish, but 28 percent of men and 21 percent of women say they’ve put effort into getting out of doing chores. The most-hated chores are, in order, washing dishes/cleaning the kitchen; doing laundry; cleaning the bathroom; vacuuming; cooking meals and shopping for groceries.

A Kittanning man is facing charges after police say he barricaded himself in a treehouse after assaulting an elderly man and setting fire to a home. 20-year-old Joseph Alton Hawk of Kittanning was charged with arson and assault-related charges after an incident in North Buffalo Township. The Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call on Saturday shortly before 1:00 p.m., where it was reported that Hawk assaulted an 82-year-old man. While police were responding, it was also learned that Hawk allegedly set fire to the home and ran off. Multiple police agencies including state police, local departments, K-9 officers, and helicopters searched the area but could not find him. Police again responded to the home on Sunday at 7:10 a.m. after reports that Hawk was seen there. When they arrived, they found Hawk barricaded by himself in a treehouse. He eventually surrendered without incident and was arrested. Hawk was arraigned and is currently in the Armstrong County Jail on $150,000 bail. The fire marshal is investigating the fire. A ghost hunter was injured in a fall at the Central Terminal on Saturday night. Buffalo police said two individuals – a man and a woman – were ghost hunting without permission at the terminal when the 35-year-old Kenmore woman fell through a substation roof near the back of the property. She fell about 15 to 20 feet, police said. Ferry-Fillmore District officers and other emergency personnel responded to a rescue call just after 10:30 p.m. The woman was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where she was treated for multiple injuries. The man with her was not injured. Police said no charges have been filed in the incident. The Central Terminal has drawn the attention of ghost hunters – for authorized visits – before. The "Ghost Hunters" TV series once broadcast a six-hour live program from the former train station, and the nonprofit which runs the building has hosted ghost tours. (https://bit.ly/3fnglML)
