Women blink more often than men. According to a study from the Functional Anatomy Research Center in Milan, women blink an average of 19 times a minute, whereas men blink only 11 times a minute. And now you know the cards as stacked against women in staring contests.

People that smell good behave more confidently, which makes them more attractive, even if others can't smell their perfume or cologne.

It sounds like a pipe dream, but the key to beating COVID-19 just might be – marijuana. Researchers from Oregon State University found certain hemp compounds can prevent the virus that causes COVID-19 from entering human cells. Their studies determined that a pair of cannabinoid acids in hemp bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, preventing a critical step in the COVID-19 infection process. The spike protein that those two cannabinoid acids bind to is the very same viral destination COVID-19 vaccines and antibody therapies target.

Following the success of her films “A Star Is Born” and “House of Gucci”, Lady Gaga has cemented her status as a Hollywood actress, though she’s yet to announce her next project. But during an interview at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, Gaga was asked who she might like to work with. Her answer? “I have to say…Tom Hanks, I would love to work with Tom Hanks. I think he is one of the most brilliant actors of all time.” Gaga, who, like Hanks, received the Icon Award at the presentation, went on to note that she was lucky to work alongside a lot of her favorite actors on House of Gucci.

Daniel Craig offered Sam Mendes a job directing “Skyfall” when he was drunk. On a podcast, Craig admitted that he got carried away when catching up with his old friend and collaborator at Hugh Jackman’s birthday party, and in his intoxicated state, it felt “glaringly obvious” to ask the filmmaker to take the reins on what ultimately became his third outing as 007 in the 2012 movie. Mendes, who also went on to direct 2015’s “Spectre”, accepted the offer, prompting Craig to quickly realize he’d be in trouble for handing out a job that it wasn’t up to him to decide on.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by

Whataburger: The regional chain started back when there were no patties bigger than 4 inches. Founder Harmon Dobson wanted a 5-inch burger that would make people exclaim “What a burger!” The name stuck.

Wendy’s: Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy’s in Columbus OH in 1969, and named it after his daughter Melinda, who was nicknamed Wendy. (You knew this one, right?)

Subway: In 1965, Pete’s Super Submarines was opened in Bridgeport CT, by Frank DeLuca and Peter Buck. They renamed it “Pete’s Subway” a few years later. In 1974, DeLuca and Buck wanted to sell franchises, so they simply renamed it Subway.

Starbucks: Co-founder Gordon Bowker heard from a friend who worked at an ad agency that words that started with “st” were considered powerful. The two came across a map with a town on it called “Starbo.” Bowker was reminded of the character ‘Starbuck’ from “Moby Dick”, and a coffee giant was born. FUN FACT: They also considered calling the place “Pequod,” after the ship in Moby Dick.

Domino’s: Brothers Jim and Tom Monaghan bought a pizza place called DomiNick’s in Ypsilanti, MI, in 1960. When the seller wanted to retain his rights to the name, the brothers had to come up with a new one fast to make a deadline to put their name in the phone book. “Domino’s” was reportedly dreamed up by a delivery driver named Jim Kennedy.

There are an estimated 60,000 storage facilities in the United States. Not individual storage units — storage buildings, each with dozens or hundreds of storage units. So, obviously, we’re a nation of hoarders. Our homes and storage units are filling up so now Americans are renting full-sized construction dumpsters to de-clutter. People are having the giant dumpsters dropped in their driveway and filling them up with years of stuff accumulated in basements, attics, garages and spare bedrooms. In fact, some dumpster companies are even marketing direct to home consumers. By the way, most in-demand city for self-storage units is Houston.
