hen an earthquake levels the West Coast of the US and kills the love of CASSIE'S (Sarah Wayne Callies) life, she makes a promise to him to find and protect his daughter, McKAYLA (Tati Gabrielle), who, prior to the quake, ran away in anger, blaming Cassie for breaking up her parents' marriage. However, the earthquake was so powerful it caused a giant island to rise 26 miles off the coast. Cassie discovers McKayla is on the island and, with the help of seemingly good Samaritan WAYNE SHARP (David Harbour), they navigate through the chaotic aftermath of Los Angeles to the island. Others have also made their way to the island, leaving behind their old lives in hopes of starting something new. Told from the perspective of Cassie and Wayne's interrogation onboard a Naval cruiser three weeks later by CAPTAIN MARK DOVER (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), we will discover the story of what happened on the island, why Cassie and Wayne are the only survivors, and whatever killed everyone on the island is now starting manifest itself on the ship.

You may have heard that you shouldn’t drink coffee on an empty stomach. But is it REALLY that bad for you? Nope, says gastroenterologist Dr. Sunana Sohi. Sohi points out that coffee has been used medicinally for centuries. It does, however, play around with stomach acid levels, and as a result, some people may experience indigestion from drinking it on an empty stomach. That, of course, can be easily solved by avoiding caffeine, or enjoying your cuppa alongside some food.

X”, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has a new motto, and it sounds like it belongs to an ’80s cover band. The app’s page in the Apple App Store now reads “Blaze your glory!”, a change from the former tagline of “Let’s talk.” The phrase is Elon Musk’s latest change as he rebrands Twitter to X. Musk tweeted the phrase on Monday with no further explanation. But, of course, the internet isn’t going to let a misquoted Bon Jovi lyric go by without some ridicule. One commenter tweeted…or, rather, “X’d”: “I’m trying @elonmusk …Why do you charge to talk?? I want my free speech back please!”

Kanye West’s account has been reinstated on Twitter — now called “X” — after an almost 8-month ban over offensive tweets. The rapper, known as Ye, was accused of violating the platform’s rules prohibiting incitement to violence. He has not posted anything new since returning to the site, at last check. Musk said at the time of the ban that Ye had “violated our rule against incitement to violence”, and that the account would be suspended. that came after the musician posted a series of offensive tweets – one of which appeared to show a symbol combining a swastika and the Star of David. The queen of “30 Rock” could be making her return…to 30 Rock. New York Post quotes a source as saying that Tina Fey is being courted to take over as executive producer of “Saturday Night Live” when creator and current executive producer Lorne Michaels departs. 78-year-old Michaels has not formally announced any intention to leave the show he created in 1975, but he has, in the past, said that it’d be “a good time to leave” after the show’s 50th anniversary in 2025.

Barbenheimer” continues to put up spectacular numbers. Barbie and Oppenheimer squashed the competition, including Disney newcomer “Haunted Mansion,” combining for $140 million in their second weekends. After opening to $162 million last weekend, “Barbie” is still drawing in hordes of pink-clad fans with an estimated $95 million. Oppenheimer took in an estimated $46 million, and “Haunted Mansion” was DOA with an estimated opening weekend of $24.5 million.

Barbie” passed “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” on Wednesday to become the top-grossing domestic movie this summer, with a total take of $381.7 million in 12 days. The Margot Robbie/Ryan Gosling film has also exceeded $800 million in worldwide earnings. It also passed “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” to become this summer’s biggest global earner, and the year’s second-biggest title behind “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($1.35 billion). By the end of this weekend, Barbie is expected to pass the $1 billion mark.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

We’re all aware of the negative impacts of spending too long scrolling through your fav social media site, and peeking into other people’s picture-perfect lives, but that doesn’t make it any easier to quit the habit. However, according to a new study, even a small reduction of the amount of time you spend on social platforms could have a positive impact on your wellbeing. Researchers at Swansea University found that cutting back social media usage by just 15 minutes a day resulted in “improved general health and immune functioning, as well as reduced feelings of loneliness and depression.”

Scientists say they’ve developed a super weapon against cancer. Researchers at University College London say their cancer-busting guided missile built from microscopic components ‘clicked’ together like Lego. It’s a possible new therapy devised by joining a trio of proteins together to create a molecular super weapon. Dr. Peter Sziji describes it thus: “We have an antibody fragment that binds to cancer cells – that’s the guidance system. Another one calls in an artillery strike – the T cells which kill the cancer – and we have an enzyme which knocks out its defences.” He said that the treatment proved particularly effective at killing breast cancer cells, and although there is more work to be done, “There is much untapped potential”.

Now you really can live the ‘Goop’ life. In a (paid) Instagram post, Gwyneth Paltrow announced that she was about to list the “beautiful little guest house” to her sprawling Montecito, California, home on Airbnb. In the vid, Paltrow walks viewers through the cozy abode — which includes a soaking tub, wood-burning fireplace, and vaulted ceilings. She also shows off a wine room, and says that Airbnb guests could join her and her husband, Brad Falchuk, there for dinner. She continues, saying: “While we may begin as strangers, I hope we’ll find connections and commonalities over a delicious meal.” And, of course: “You’ll have a bathroom stocked with my favorite @goop products.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/46fnb5uu

HEALTHY” FOODS THAT ARE ACTUALLY BAD FOR YOU: (Part 1)

Flavored Yogurt: Common brands often contain 3 different added sugars – fruit juice concentrate, cane sugar and modified food starch – as well as the emulsifier carrageenan, which has been associated with increased gut inflammation.

Granola: Although branded as being healthy, thanks to fiber and lack of refined sugar, this is often misleading. It can contain multiple forms of sugar, such as syrups, which can cause spikes in blood sugar.

Vegan Meat: Plant-based meats, often made using pea or soy proteins to create vegan-friendly burgers or sausages, have been criticized by nutritionists for their lack of real nutritional value. A better option is to eat lentils and peas themselves, rather than the processed product.
