If you want to keep your pearly whites, cut the calories. British researchers analyzed the results of several studies conducted on both humans and animals to determine the benefits of restricting calories compared to a usual diet. They found that restricting caloric intake “might have the potential to reduce the local and systemic hyper-inflammatory state as well as disease progression” of periodontitis — a serious but fairly common gum disease impacting nearly half of people 30 years and older.

Taking your cell phone into the bathroom to spend some quality time on the toilet isn’t such a good idea, according to a Stanford- and Harvard-trained gastroenterologist. In a video posted to TikTok, Dr. Saurabh Sethi says that scrolling on social media while doing your business can have some serious health consequences. (and for that matter, ‘doing business’ on your phone while doing your business can, as well!). Sethi explained: “First, using your phone while doing number 2 can lead to prolonged sitting on the toilet, which can cause strain and pressure on your rectum and anus”. This can lead to issues such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures and rectal prolapse, he concluded. You probably don’t need any more details than that. But these aren’t the only reasons not to bring your phone to the bathroom with you. He also says it can be a breeding ground for bacteria. But if you must, “at least have a disinfectant wipe around to clean the phone after you’re done”, says the good doctor. LINK:

A rare Bob Ross painting is expected to sell for nearly ten-million dollars. The late host of the PBS show "The Joy of Painting" made the piece in under 30 minutes on the show's very first episode in 1983. The piece titled "A Walk in the Woods" shows a stone path winding through a serene forest, and was originally purchased by a PBS volunteer at a benefit auction, likely for under 100 dollars. Bob Ross and his show have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years, and now millions subscribe to his YouTube Page. "A Walk in the Woods" is on sale for nine-point-85-million dollars.

Kim Kardashian was announced as one of Fortune’s most powerful women, and she has graced a cover featuring the magazine’s list. Kardashian, who elevated her shapewear line SKIMS to a $4 billion valuation, has also announced the new private equity firm SKYY, with an aim to raise $1 billion by launch. Kimmy K quote: “Maybe that’s part of my drive, always feeling like people have underestimated me. Maybe that’s what keeps me going.”
