Good news if you’re the type, like me, who starts getting hungry for dinner right after your afternoon snack: A study found that eating later increases your risk for obesity. And eating earlier has the opposite effect. Actually, several studies have made this conclusion, but researchers at the Brigham Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders wanted to find out why. The scientists concluded that when all other factors are kept consistent (caloric intake, physical activity, sleep and light exposure, etc.), eating 4 hours later “makes a significant difference for our hunger levels, the way we burn calories after we eat, and the way we store fat.” They say this could apply to those who eat either meals or snacks later in the day.

Sure, e-bikes are a convenient and efficient mode of transportation. But it seems they’ve caught on in a surprising place: Amish communities. Although it’s commonly believed that the Amish reject any type of technology that isn’t several centuries old, in reality, there is no central Amish governing authority, and each community is allowed to make its own decisions about what tech it makes use of. And in Lancaster, Pennsylvania — home of numerous Amish communities — several churches have jumped astride the e-bike trend. As David Mullett, a member of the Old Order Amish Church and owner of an e-bike shop, points out: “It’s a lot quicker to jump on your bike and go into town than it is to bring your horse into the barn, harness it to the buggy, and go.”

James Bond’ fans will have to wait a while to see who the next ‘007’ will be, according to producer Barbara Broccoli. In an interview Broccoli shared that executives “haven’t even begun” modernizing the franchise, and there is a “big road ahead” before the Bond character is “reinvented for the next chapter.” Broccoli praised what Daniel Craig, who retired from the role in 2021, brought, saying he “gave us the ability to mine the emotional life of the character…and…the world was ready for it.” Now, the producer says, the job is to “focus on what a 21st-century hero would look like.”

The Hunger Games” is coming to the stage! The first-ever play adaption is set to arrive in London next year, directed by Matthew Dunster and adapted by playwright Conor McPherson, according to multiple reports. Based on the novel series of the same name — as well as the movie franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth — the production will focus on the first book, where young contestants are selected to fight in a televised battle royale. The play will follow Lawrence’s character ‘Katniss Everdeen’ taking her sister’s place to participate in the 74th annual Hunger Games, as chronicled in the 2008 book and 2012 movie. It will make its stage debut next fall.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

A study found that just over 30% of parents “skip” pages in bedtime stories in order to make it end quicker.

The clocks go back an hour early Sunday morning (in most of North America and some other countries), and even though it means an extra hour of sleep, the adjustment can be difficult. Struggling to sleep can affect physical and mental health. To help, sports medicine physician Dr. Jess Andrade suggests the “10-3-2-1-0” sleep method. Here’s how it works:

10: Finish consuming caffeine about 10 hours before bedtime.

3: Finishing big meals and drinking alcohol 3 hours before bed. This can help reduce reflux, and alcohol impairs your natural sleep cycle, reducing good quality sleep.

2: Spend the last 2 hours of the evening attempting to “relax the brain, and write down all tasks for the next day (in order to) give your brain a mental rest.”

1: One hour before bed, reduce electronics, as the blue light disrupts the body’s natural sleep cycle.”

0: If you follow this method, zero should be “the number of times you will hit the snooze button in the morning”, says the good doctor.

FUN FACT FOR YOU:
Share this with your friends... they'll think you're really smart!

Right-handed people chew most of their food on the right side of their mouth, left-handed people do so on the left.

A study determined that among men, a larger signature correlates with higher social bravado. Among women, a larger signature correlates with narcissistic traits.

We feel “hangry” because it’s harder to control emotions when the brain is low on glucose.

A restaurant in Georgia is causing raised eyebrows online after word of its dining surcharge — for “bad parenting” — went viral. The Toccoa Riverside Restaurant says it may add the extra fee to parents of unruly kids at the discretion of the business. The warning, right on the restaurant’s bill of fare, bluntly reads: “Adult surcharge: For adults unable to parent: $$$.” A pic of the menu recently appeared on Reddit with the caption: “This restaurant charges you extra for bad parenting.”
