SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

According to a study that analyzed Facebook data, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas can be named “break-up season.” It’s couples who are dating, not married, who call it quits during this time of year more than any other. A close second is the week before Spring Break, when college kids may be looking for a little freedom before they hit the beach and the booze.

A man in Hayes Township, Michigan, lost track of his girlfriend, so he called in a well-being check to the cops. When the officers arrived, the woman was nowhere to be found. They were questioning her father when the man who called in the wellness check showed up. Further interrogation revealed he had a felony warrant for his arrest. And to complicate things, he was in possession of methamphetamine. Busted! No word on whether his girlfriend ever turned up.

Sean Astin told a story of how a fan told him about a mistake in The Lord of the Rings and the incident is a perfect encapsulation of the huge challenge that The Lord of the Rings TV series has to overcome. It has been two decades since the original The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was released. The six movies in the franchise (three The Lord of the Rings and three The Hobbit movies) have received a varied reception from fans, but the response has always been strong. Understanding this strength of feeling holds the key to the success or failure of the upcoming series. In a Screen Rant exclusive interview, Sean Astin told a story about a fan that stopped the limo he was riding in so that he could tell Astin and Peter Jackson about an error with The Fellowship of the Ring. The fan had noticed that in the scene in Balin’s tomb as the Fellowship face off against a cave troll, that the cave troll walks through a beam of sunlight that has made its way into the tomb. The fan pointed out that the lore established by author J.R.R. Tolkien in the prequel book, The Hobbit, made it clear that if trolls were exposed to sunlight then they would turn to stone. https://screenrant.com/lord-rings-sean-astin-mistake-story-reboot-challenge/

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

Behind closed doors, everyone is a little bit of a weirdo. What’s the weirdest thing your partner does? Here are some of the best and worst responses in a Facebook poll:

Bites his toenails.

She eats hair.

He make sure his clothes don’t touch the floor or they are considered dirty.

He washes his socks and underwear in the shower while showering.

Stress and worry are killing us. We worry about everything. But here’s a test that can reduce worrying: the 10-year test. Something might seem devastating right when it happens, but a decade later you’re unlikely to even remember it. So to stop the worrying ask yourself, “Will this matter in one year, five years, or 10 years?” If it won’t, you need to stop stressing out about it. Move forward.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A man was arrested on suspicion of stealing a fire truck and taking it on a wild pursuit through several cities before being detained in Anaheim. Truck 85, a half a million-dollar truck, was stolen from UCI Medical Center in Orange as paramedics were taking a patient to the hospital, said Captain Greg Barta of the Orange County Fire Authority. "As they were dropping off a patient at the hospital the truck was stolen," Barta told City News Service. The driver traveled through many Orange County communities, including Fountain Valley and Irvine, before finally stopping in Anaheim. An hour later the driver finally stopped in Anaheim where a man walked up to the window as if to say “don’t go any further.” Richard Lynn Wilson, who said he lives on the sidewalk nearby, said he put himself in the middle of the chaos on purpose. "I just did not want the kid to get shot," he said. The driver was taken into custody and he has not been named. But firefighters suspect he has some truck driving abilities. "This isn’t driving a Ford F150, a car, a minivan -- it's a massive different driving radius. It takes a lot to move a vehicle that big," Barta said. Anaheim officers took the driver into custody at about 3:00 a.m. (https://bit.ly/32h36Kd)
